Phoenixville Police Blotter: Arson, Thefts, Hit and Runs

The following arrest information was supplied by the Phoenixville Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

The following incidents were reported between Nov. 6 and Nov. 15. This is not an exhaustive list of all incidents that occurred and represents only a sample of incidents during that time period.

Arson on Railroad Street

Someone called to report seeing smoke coming from a home in the first block of Railroad Street.

There was a small fire in the back of the kitchen roof, according to the police report, and the incident was reported shortly after 1 p.m. on Nov. 6.

Evidence indicated that the fire was intentionally set. A corporal on scene observed a broken bottle with a cloth wick inside.

Police were investigating.

Man Attempts to Steal Cigarettes From 7-Eleven

A man allegedly attempted to remove two packs of Marlboro Menthol cigarettes from the 7-Eleven at 200 Nutt Road on Nov. 11 shortly before 11:10 p.m.

The man was described as a tall heavyset white male with glasses and a ponytail wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt. He was also described as having very bad body odor. The man was driving a silver Dodge station wagon.

The cigarettes were found on a magazine rack just below the register counter.

Money Stolen During House Party

Man reported that he stayed overnight at a home in the first block of East Morgan Street for a house party following an event at Club 212.

He woke up on Nov. 12 and discovered that $450 was missing from his backpack. The theft was reported at 5:51 p.m. The victim suspected the thief was the woman he spent the night with, and police were investigating.

Assault Reported Near Sunoco

A thin black male with glasses, standing approximately 5 feet, 10 inches tall, reportedly punched a 21-year-old man in the face and broke the victim’s driver’s side window on Nov. 12 shortly before 12:51 a.m.

The victim said the man who punched him was with four white males. Police made contact with a 16-year-old male in the 200 block of Miligan Street, and the juvenile had blood on his hands. When an officer approached, the juvenile fled on foot, and police were unable to locate him.

The man who lodged the complaint was unsure exactly where the assault had occurred. Police were investigating.

Man Allegedly Stole Timberland Boots at Sears Hardware

Police reported taking Ronald Geremes, 57, into custody after he reportedly tried to leave Sears Hardware at 700 Nutt Road without paying for a box of Timberland Boots valued at $125.

The security tag was still in the boots. The incident happened on Nov. 11 shortly before 8:56 p.m.

Juveniles Reportedly Try to Light Walking Bridge on Fire

A woman called to report that four juveniles lit lighter fluid on the foot board by the walking bridge behind the Phoenixville Foundry building at 2 N. Main St. shortly before 6:02 p.m. on Nov. 9.

Two of the subjects were described as white males, approximately 15 years old. One of the boys had brown hair and was wearing a black sweatshirt and jeans, and the second by was reportedly wearing dark clothing.

Police searched but could not immediately locate the juveniles.

Property Damage Hit and Run at Nutt Road and Bridge Street

Someone ran over a traffic island and destroyed a borough sign post and signs at the intersection of Nutt Road and Bridge Street, according to police.

The incident occurred sometime before 9 a.m. on Nov. 13.

The vehicle traveled west from the scene and likely has undercarriage damage.

Windshield Shot with Paintballs on Route 23

A man said an unknown person shot the windshield of his 2003 Honda Accord with paintballs while he was traveling eastbound in the 400 block of Nutt Road, near T.D. Alfredo’s at 468 Nutt Road.

The incident occurred at approximately 10:45 a.m. on Nov. 11, and it was reported later that day at 4:26 p.m.

Hit and Run at on Kimberton Road

A woman reported that someone damaged the driver’s side front bumper of her 2007 Toyota Camry.

She discovered the damage at approximately 1 p.m. on Nov. 6. She said the damage either occurred in the Rite Aid parking lot at 200 Kimberton Road or the CVS parking lot at 130 Schuylkill Road.

Tombstones Toppled in Black Rock Cemetary

A man reported that two tombstones were knocked over in Black Rock Cemetery sometime before 2:30 p.m. on Nov. 9.

Burglary on Township Line Road

A man called police to say that someone broke into his home in the 900 block of Township Line Road and stole three firearms.

The burglary reportedly happened sometime on Nov. 7 or Nov. 8. Police were investigating.

Hit and Run Crash at Township Line and Pothouse Roads

A woman driving a 2006 Nissan Maxima was facing south and stopped at the stop sign at Pothouse and Township Line roads when a construction vehicle reportedly made a wide left turn onto Pothouse Road and struck her vehicle on the front driver’s side quarter panel on Nov. 10 shortly before 4:20 p.m.

The driver of the construction vehicle did not stop.

Student Reports Being Robbed on Way to School

A 15-year-old boy arrived at school late on Nov. 10 and said he had been robbed.

The student said a Hispanic male, 5-feet 7-inches to 5-feet 10-inches tall wearing a black hoodie and blue jeans came up behind him and demanded everything he had, according to the police report. The student said he gave the robber $20 and his jacket.

The alleged incident occurred near the intersection of Gay and Morgan streets at approximately 11:05 a.m. on Nov. 10.

Former Employee Banned from Gateway Pharmacy

According to a police report, an 18-year-old former Gateway Pharmacy employee entered the store at 165 Nutt Road and consumed a pack of Twizzlers valued at $1 and a package of Tastykakes priced at $1.59 without paying.

The incident was reported at 7:07 p.m. on Nov. 7. The manager said she didn’t want to pursue charges, and police phoned the man and informed him that going forward, he was banned from Gateway Pharmacy. If he is caught there, he will be charged with trespassing, according to the police report.

Tree Cut Down, Tossed Aside on Historical Society Property

A man reported that someone cut down a small tree and threw it on the grass at The Historical Society of the Phoenixville Area, 204 Church St.

The incident occurred between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. on Nov. 12.

Attempted Burglary on Washington Avenue

A woman reported that someone tried to break into her house in the 300 block of Washington Avenue between 11:15 a.m. on Nov. 4 and 7 a.m. on Nov. 8.

A window at the residence was broken, but the burglar did not enter the home, according to police, who were investigating the crime.

Attempted Theft from Vehicle on Brower Street 

Between 2 p.m. on Nov. 7 and 8 a.m. on Nov. 8, someone entered a 2000 Ford Ranger through a partially opened window and rummaged through the victim’s belongings.

Nothing was reported stolen from the vehicle. The truck was parked on Brower Street behind the 300 block of Washington Avenue. The incident was reported on Nov. 8 at 9:30 a.m.

Ashtray Stolen from Vehicle on Brower Street

A woman reported that sometime between 8:30 p.m. on Nov. 8 and 10 a.m. on Nov. 9, someone broke into her 2000 Ford Ranger and stole her ashtray.

The victim noticed that the window of the truck was down and off the tracks, and a rain guard was cracked. The incident occurred on Brower Street, in the rear of the 300 block of Washington Avenue.

GPS Stolen on Third Avenue

A man reported that a thief stole a limited edition Harley Davidson Garmin GPS from his unlocked 1996 Toyota Camry, which was parked in the 300 block of Third Avenue.

The theft occurred between 9 a.m. on Nov. 10 and 5 a.m. on Nov. 11.

Gun Reported Stolen on Main Street

Someone stole a gun from an apartment in the 300 block of Main Street, a woman told police.

The woman had a suspect in mind. The theft was reported on Nov. 12 at 2:21 p.m. The gun was a .40-caliber Glock 23.

Retail Theft at True Value Hardware

Two male juveniles entered the Phoenixville True Value Hardware at 785 Starr St. and stole two wristwatches valued at $7.99 each.

The incident occurred on Nov. 11 shortly before 5:38 p.m.

MacBook Reported Stolen on Cherry Street

A man reported that a thief took his silver MacBook Pro from his residence in the 900 block of Cherry Street sometime before 7 p.m. on Nov. 12.

The victim had a suspect in mind and police were investigating.

Burglary on Columbia Avenue

A burglar broke into a garage in the 100 block of Columbia Avenue between 8 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. on Nov. 11.

The burglar took a five-foot-tall Craftsman air compressor, 50 feet of hose and a half-inch impact wrench.

Hit and Run on Washington Avenue

Sometime during the overnight hours on Nov. 8, a parked 2007 Mercury Mountaineer was struck on the passenger side of the rear bumper.

The SUV was parked in the 300 block of Washington Avenue. The incident was reported on Nov. 8 at 10:13 a.m. Police observed a four- to five-inch long tear in the bumper.

Hit and Run in Acme Parking Lot

A driver reported that she stopped her vehicle on her way to the parking lot at Acme on Starr Street when a vehicle of unknown color, make, model and description hit her 2006 Honda Odyssey from the rear on Nov. 11 shortly before 6:04 p.m. 

Police were unable to locate the striking vehicle. The Honda was drivable following the crash.

Man Caught Allegedly Trying to Steal from Cars on Main Street

A man reported that Noe Sosa-Bonilla, 21, was puling on car door handles in front of the Foundry building at 2 N. Main St. and gained entry to a 2007 Mercedes S550.

The incident occurred on Nov. 8 shortly before 6:20 p.m. Sosa-Bonilla was taken into custody and charges for theft from a motor vehicle, public drunkenness and disorderly conduct were filed in district court.

Tires Slashed on Westridge Drive

Someone punctured three tires on a 2007 Ford F-250 that was parked in the 800 block of Westridge Drive sometime before 8 a.m. on Nov. 12.

The total cost of the damage was approximately $1,500, according to police.

Backpack Stolen from Van on Penn Street

A thief removed a green and black backpack from a company van that was parked in the 100 block of Penn Street.

The backpack contained two wedding rings valued at $200 and a black Cricket cell phone. The theft was reported on Nov. 15 at 5:50 p.m.

Stolen Bike Found on Walnut Street

A man told police that his son’s bicycle, an orange and white Tony Hawk special, was reported stolen in October.

On Nov. 8 shortly before 6:46 p.m., the man told police he saw a juvenile male riding the bike. They followed the 17-year-old to the 200 block of Walnut Street, where the bike was located and identified as the one belonging to the victim’s son.

The victim did not wish to press charges.

Stolen Bike at Phoenixville Public Library

A man told police that he went into the library for five minutes, and when he came back his bike was missing from the bike rack at Phoenixville Public Library at 183 Second Ave.

The incident occurred on Nov. 11 shortly before 5:01 p.m.

Pastry Theft at Steel City

The morning pastry delivery was reported stolen from Steel City Coffeehouse at 203 Bridge St. sometime between 3 a.m. and 6 a.m. on Nov. 9.

The person who reported the incident said it wasn’t the first time pastries were stolen from that location.

Trunk Scratched on Franklin Avenue

Sometime between 2 p.m. on Nov. 7 and 8:30 a.m. on Nov. 8, someone scratched the trunk of a 2003 Nissan Maxima parked in the 300 block of Franklin Avenue.
