Phoenixville Police Blotter: Lamb Chop Theft and More

These incidents occurred between April 7-9.

Those named are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Theft of Lamb Chops

Michael Ray Brown, 51, was caught concealing lamb chops and other merchandise at the Giant supermarket at 700 Nutt Road.

The incident occurred on April 7 at 11:38 a.m. When an employee confronted Brown, he dropped the goods and ran, but was apprehended by Phoenixville Police near the Rite Aid on Nutt Road.

When police looked at Brown’s background, they found he had nine prior convictions for retail theft. He was arraigned and sent to Chester County Jail in lieu of $1,500 cash bail.

Urinating on Main Street

An officer on patrol noticed Kyle J. Magargal, 24, urinating in public in the unit block of Main Street shortly before 1 a.m. on April 7.

Magargal received a disorderly conduct citation and was released to a friend.

Public Drunkenness on Washington Avenue

Police received a report of a man lying in the roadway in the 500 block of Washington Avenue on April 9 at 1:51 a.m.

When police responded, they found Angel Lopez, 22, of Phoenixville, highly intoxicated with a mostly consumed bottle of tequila near him.

Lopez was cited for public drunkenness.

Glass Broken at Pickering Creek Inn

Police responded to a report of breaking glass at the Pickering Creek Inn, 37 Bridge Street, shortly after 2:30 a.m. on April 8.

When police arrived, Steven Thomas Rapp, 21, admitted causing the damage. An officer found a glass pipe with suspected marijuana residue in it tucked into Rapp’s front waistband.

Rapp was cited for criminal mischief and disorderly conduct and released.

Open Containers of Malt Liquor in Prospect Street Lot

Marquis I. Jones, 24, and Stetson Maurice Ziegler, 22, both of Collegeville, were cited for open container violations.

On April 9 at 11:59 p.m., an officer found them with open cans of Steel Reserve malt liquor in the Prospect Street municipal lot.

Urination in Prospect Street Lot

Derrick L. Harper, 46, Phoenixville, was cited for disorderly conduct on April 9.

An officer found him urinating in the Prospect Street municipal lot shortly before 9 p.m.

Peel Out Near Reeves Park

An officer observed a 2007 Chevrolet sedan driven by Jason Sweigert, 34, peeling out from Second Avenue to Starr Street at 12:34 p.m. April 9.

The incident occurred near Reeves Park, which was active with small children and parents at the time, according to the police report.

Police issued a citation.

Public Drunkenness at Bridge and Main

An officer noticed a group of males yelling and preparing to fight at Bridge and Main streets on April 9 at 1:55 a.m.

James Jay Sherrick Jr., 24, Phoenixville, and Joseph Brian Harkins, 24, Eagleville, were arrested for public drunkenness and released.
