Phoenixville Police Blotter: Man Arrested for Approximately 60 Burglaries

The following arrest information was supplied by the Phoenixville Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

The following incidents were reported between July 24 and Aug. 8.

Multiple Burglaries at Starr Street Shopping Center

An Eagleville man faces nearly 200 charges after police say he admitted to breaking into approximately 60 area businesses, including several in Phoenixville.

Shannon Edwards, 32, was arrested during a strip mall burglary in Whitemarsh Township on Aug. 14, according to police.

On July 29 at 7:18 a.m., police were called to investigate a reported burglary at Top Cleaners at 785 Starr St. in Phoenixville.

According to police, the back door had been pried open and approximately $90 in cash was missing from the register. When police were checking out the area, an officer noticed that other doors in the center had been pried open. Someone broke into Ethan Nails, the Hair Cuttery and an empty store.

Police reported that $150 was taken from Ethan Nails.

Charges against Edwards were consolidated and the Pennsylvania State Police-Skippack brought the charges against Edwards, who was held on $100,000 bail.

Pool Hoppers Cited on First Avenue

Five juveniles were cited for curfew violation and criminal trespass after police allegedly caught them in a pool without permission in the 300 block of First Avenue.

The incident occurred at 3:39 a.m. on July 25. One of the juveniles had an active bench warrant and was turned over to the constable.

Bed Thrown into Pool on First Avenue

A man reported that someone threw a small bed into his pool in the 300 block of First Avenue between 3:45 a.m. and 5 a.m. on July 24.

DUI on Bridge Street

Police arrested Helen Lo, 28, for driving under the influence and related charges after she allegedly backed into a parked car in the lot of the Mainstay at 184 Bridge St.

The incident occurred on July 24 at 2:14 a.m.

Pot Found on Main Street

On July 29 at 8:43 a.m., a man reported finding a cloth bag in the unit block of South Main Street.

The man checked the bag to see if there was identification inside and found a small amount of suspected marijuana and a one-hitter pipe. The bag was turned over to police and the contents were destroyed.

Pills Found at Bridge and Bank Streets

While clearing out the bar crowd on July 30 at 2:20 a.m., an officer found a clear plastic bag on the ground at Bridge and Bank streets.

The bag contained four and a half pills that were later identified as Hydrocodone. The drugs were destroyed.

Suspected Drugs Found at Franklin and Vanderslice

When on scene for a verbal domestic on July 29 at 6:09 p.m., police found an empty baggie with white residue inside.

The bag was on the ground at Franklin Avenue and Vanderslice Street. The bag was destroyed.

Drug Paraphernalia at Bridge and Main Streets

Police cited Rashee May, 29, of Collegeville, after he allegedly had a marijuana pipe that police found during a traffic stop.

The incident occurred on July 29 at 4:41 p.m. A charge of possessing drug paraphernalia was withdrawn in court.

Two Cited for Fighting on Chester Avenue

Police arrived in the 100 block of Chester Avenue on Aug. 8 at 8:52 p.m. for a report of a fight.

Upon arrival, police reported finding Henrik Stubbe Teglbjaerg, 55, and Edward Golus, 46, fighting over a broken bike pump.

Both men were cited for disorderly conduct.

Burglary on Gay Street

A man reported that his 15-year-old son woke up on Aug. 5 and found his 17-year-old friend in his room in his residence in the 400 block of Gay Street.

The 17-year-old was reportedly using his cell phone. The younger boy went back to sleep and when he woke up, his HP laptop, Xbox and cell phone were missing.

The incident was reported on Aug. 5 at 4:42 a.m.

The Xbox, as well as a video game, were later recovered and returned.

Laptop Stolen on Park Drive

A woman reported that on Aug. 2, a thief stole a 17-inch Dell Inspiron laptop from her home in the 400 block of Park Drive.

Retail Theft Reported at Kmart

Police arrested Gregory Porter, 20, and charged him with retail theft on Aug. 5 at 4:45 p.m.

According to police, Porter admitted stealing $188.09 worth of store merchandise from the Kmart store at 1000 Nutt Road.

Backpack Stolen in Reeves Park

A man called the station on July 30 at 8:42 a.m. to report that someone stole his black Jansport backpack from Reeves Park at approximately 6 p.m. on July 29.

The backpack contained school books and an HTC cell phone.

Chairs Stolen on Dayton Street

Sometime between 9 p.m. and 12 a.m. on July 30, a thief removed two plastic chairs from a home in the 100 block of Dayton Street.

Bench Stolen on Morris Street

A woman reported that someone removed a bench from next to her garage in her fenced-in yard in the 200 block of Morris Street sometime before 1:11 p.m. on Aug. 1.

Vehicle Break-in on Nutt Road

A man reported that someone broke into his vehicle and removed a cell phone and wallet.

The thefts occurred between 11 p.m. on July 31 and 7 a.m. on Aug. 1, according to the police report.

Hit and Run at the Boat Docks

A woman reported that she parked her car at the boat docks in Phoenixville at approximately 2:20 p.m. on July 20 and returned at 4:20 p.m. to find the bumper ripped off.

A witness told police details about the striking vehicle, saying it was a white van with a white boat that was headed toward Upper Providence Township after causing the damage.

Car Damaged on Walnut Street

Between July 14 and 27, someone damaged the trunk lock and cracked the windshield of a car parked in the 200 block of Walnut Street.

Hit and Run on High Street

A woman told police that a tan sedan struck the driver’s side rear door of her 2006 PT Cruiser when the car was occupied in the 300 block of High Street.

The striking vehicle left the scene. The incident occurred on July 31 shortly before 4:09 a.m.

Tires Slashed on Main Street

Sometime between 9 p.m. on Aug 2 and 8 a.m. on Aug. 3, someone slashed the driver’s side rear tire of a vehicle parked in the 700 block of Main Street.

The victim told police it was the second time that happened.

Sometime 6:30 p.m. on Aug. 2 and 8:30 a.m. on Aug. 3, someone slashed the tires of a vehicle parked in the 700 block of Main Street.

Car Scratched on Main Street

A woman reported that someone scratched the rear and front bumpers and passenger-side molding and cracked two taillights of a car parked in the unit block of South Main Street.
The damage was reported on July 27 at 12:13 p.m. The woman said she was unsure where the damage occurred, but said she parks the car on Prospect Street as well.

Car Struck on Brower Street

A woman reported a scuff mark on the front left corner of her vehicle, which was parked in the 300 block of Brower Street.

The woman told police she believes someone struck the vehicle between 11 p.m. on July 27 and 7 a.m. on July 28.

Cars Keyed on Lexington Drive

A woman told police someone had keyed her vehicle, which was parked in the 300 block of Lexington Drive.

When police arrived on July 28 at 5:29 p.m., they discovered damage to four additional vehicles in the area. All had been damaged in the same manner, according to police.

Windows Smashed on Church Street

Sometime after 8:30 p.m. on July 14, unknown actors smashed three windows on a church in the 200 block of Church Street.

Meat Slicer Stolen on Second Avenue

A man reported that a thief stole his silver meat slicer from behind a residence in the unit block of Second Avenue.

The theft was reported on July 16 at 10:20 a.m.

Harassment, Trespassing on Main Street

Paul Safko, 56, was cited for trespassing and harassment after a man reported that he did not want him on the property, located in the unit block of South Main Street.

The incident was reported on July 28 at 9:08 p.m.

Criminal Trespass on Washington Avenue

Someone entered a home in the 300 block of Washington Avenue through a window at the rear of the house sometime before 1:16 p.m. on Aug. 3.

The woman who reported the incident had an idea of who entered the home but didn’t have proof. The trespasser left behind empty plastic baggies, according to the police report.

Trespassing on Nutt Road

Thomas Voorhees, 46, was cited for trespassing at the Phoenixville Plaza Shopping Center at 700 Nutt Road on July 27 at 10:43 p.m.

Public Drunkenness at West Pothouse Road and Timothy Lane

Police reported finding Edwin Lopez Martinez, 38, passed out at the above location on July 24 at 9:56 a.m.

Martinez was cited for public drunkenness.

Public Drunkenness on Bridge Street

An officer observed a P.J. Ryan’s employee trying to get a man to leave the bar on July 31 at 1:18 a.m.

The man, who police identified as Omero Lopez-Alvarado, 24, of Phoenixville, was refusing to leave, according to police, and had to be physically removed. Police arrested Lopez-Alvarado and charged him with public drunkenness.

Public Drunkenness at Gay and Hall Streets

Rachel Stocker, 23, was cited for public drunkenness after police said she was walking near Gay and Hall streets in an intoxicated and belligerent state.

The incident occurred on Aug. 3 at 3:35 a.m.

Public Drunkenness on Bridge Street

Police responded to a report of an intoxicated female in the 200 block of Bridge Street on July 31 at 1:51 a.m.

Upon arrival, police allegedly found Jennifer Anderson, 24, who was taken into custody for public drunkenness.

Public Drunkenness on the French Creek Bicycle Trail

Police cited Estuardo Mauricio, 44, of Phoenixville, for public drunkenness after an officer allegedly found him lying in the weeds along the French Creek bike trail on July 31 at 8:56 p.m.

Public Drunkenness on Sherman Street

Police noticed Mark Nalencz Sr., 38, of Pottstown, allegedly urinating on the sidewalk on Sherman Street near Nutt Road on July 15 at 4:30 p.m., according to police.

Nalencz was cited for public drunkenness and disorderly conduct.

Public Drunkenness on Nutt Road

Police cited Kristen Eves, 41, for public drunkenness after she was found behind the wheel of a car parked in the 400 block of Nutt Road and police reported she was intoxicated.

The incident occurred on July 28 at 3:36 p.m.

Underage Drinking on High Street

Police cited Kevin Miller, 20, of Phoenixville, for underage drinking and public drunkenness after they reported finding him passed out on the sidewalk in the 400 block of High Street on July 28 at 2:15 a.m.

Public Drunkenness at Bank and Bridge

Police cited Tara Lynne Ogden, 42, of Spring City for public drunkenness after she allegedly staggered down the sidewalk at Bridge and Bank streets on July 30 at 1:14 a.m.

Open Container at Bridge and Wheatland

Alexander Demko, 63, of Phoenixville, was cited for an open container violation after police reportedly saw him carrying a coffee cup filled with beer at Bridge and Wheatland streets on July 25 at 11:05 p.m.

Open Container at Main and Church

Police cited Richard Moreton, 23, of Phoenixville, for an open container violation after he allegedly had an open can of Yuengling Lager on a stone wall at South Main Street at Church Street on July 30 at 12:22 a.m.
