Phoenixville Police Blotter: Man Driving with Hazard Lights on Arrested for DUI

The following arrest information was supplied by the Phoenixville Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

The following incidents were reported between July 10 and July 13.

Man Charged with DUI After Driving with Four-Ways on, Drifting into Officer’s Lane

On July 12 shortly before 9:40 p.m., an officer noticed a truck being driven near Gay and Church streets with its four-way lights on.

An officer reported that the truck nearly ran through the red light at the intersection. The officer turned his patrol car around and the man’s orange Dodge Ram 2500 began to come into the officer’s lane of travel, according to a report.

The officer attempted to stop the vehicle, but it continued, running two stop signs ad one traffic light before stopping at Washington and Lincoln avenues.

Police arrested Janos Somogyi, 50, for driving under the influence. A dog that Somogyi had in the truck was held in the borough pound until it was picked up.

Woman Says Man Punched Her in Face at Club 212

A woman reported that she got into an argument with a male, who she told police then punched her in the right side of her face.

The incident was reported on July 10 at 12:52 a.m. at Club 212 at 212 Bridge St. Police located the man in the parking lot, and after police made contact with him, the male fled on foot.

The alleged victim did not have any injuries, according to police, and she refused medical treatment.

Microphone Stolen at Molly Maguire’s

On July 10 at 1:17 a.m., a woman reported that someone stole her microphone, which was at Molly Maguire’s Restaurant and Pub at 195 Bridge St.

According to police, several people were seen with the microphone and they’d been taking photos of themselves with it. An investigation was pending.

House Broken Into on Virginia Avenue

A man reported that sometime over the weekend of July 9-10, someone broke into his home in the 300 block of Virginia Avenue.

The burglary occurred between 2:30 p.m. on July 8 and 9 p.m. on July 10, when it was discovered. Nothing was reported missing.

Golf Cart Stolen from Barto Pool and Spa

Between 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. on July 13, a thief stole a golf cart from Barto Pool and Spa, located at 551 Bridge St.

A witness reported that he saw someone driving the golf cart east on Bridge Street.

Later that day at 1:21 p.m., police found a Yamaha golf cart parked on the steel site property under the Gay Street bridge. The cart was returned to Barto Pool and Spa.

Woman Smashes Car with Brick on Nutt Road

A man called to report that his girlfriend, Sheila Smith, 18, was smashing the window of his vehicle with a brick and yelling in the 600 block of Nutt Road on July 12 shortly before 8:57 p.m.

When police arrived, Smith was reportedly still very agitated. She was charged with disorderly conduct and felony criminal mischief for property damage. All charges were held for county court.

Hit and Run on High Street

A white tri-axle dump truck reportedly struck the driver’s side mirror of a Ford truck parked in the 500 block of High Street sometime before 1:09 p.m. on July 13.

The driver of the dump truck fled the scene.

Bike Stolen from the Library

A man reported that his red Huffy mountain bike was stolen from the area of the Phoenixville Public Library, 182 Second Ave., on July 11.

Car Egged on Campwood Road

A woman reported that someone egged her car between 6:45 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on July 12.

The car was parked in the 1200 block of Campwood Road.

Car Damaged on Hall Street

A woman reported that the front passenger-side fender on her car was damaged in the 300 block of Hall Street.

The damage was discovered on July 10 at 10 a.m.

Kids Reported Playing in Fountain at Bridge and Bank Streets

Someone reported to police that three kids were playing in the fountain in the Kiwanis Children’s Plaza on July 10 at 7:38 p.m.

The kids were told not to play in the fountain, according to the report.
