Phoenixville Police Blotter: Man Drops Suspected Coke in Kmart Parking Lot

The following arrest information was supplied by the Phoenixville Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

The following incidents were reported between Aug. 9 and Aug. 15.

Man Drops Suspected Coke in Kmart Parking Lot

An employee at the Kmart store at 1000 Nutt Road reported to police that he saw a white male in his 20s with blond hair wearing tan cargo shorts, a blue shirt and a red hat drop a clear sandwich bag containing 22 blue baggies in the parking lot on Aug. 9 shortly before 4:31 p.m.

The blue bags contained suspected cocaine. The man was searching through his shorts pocket for his keys when the bag tumbled out, the witness told police.

Police took custody of the evidence and held it pending further investigation.

Assault at the Pickering Creek Inn

Police charged Andrea Sanchez, 23, with simple assault, disorderly conduct and harassment after a 24-year-old woman said Sanchez punched her in the head, causing a bruise on her forehead.

The alleged victim also had a four-inch bruise on her hip from falling after being punched, according to police. The incident occurred on Aug. 7 and was reported on Aug. 9 at 10:35 a.m.

Charges for harassment and simple assault were withdrawn, and the disorderly conduct charge was moved to a non-traffic violation in district court.

Woman Cited for Painting on Businesses

Police responded to a call on Aug. 14 at 6 p.m. for a report of a white woman with brown hair, a tank top and paint on her arms painting on downtown businesses.

An officer reported finding Stephanie Macbeth Buda, 19, of Spring City, painting on the bricks of the fountain in the Kiwanis Children’s Plaza on Bank Street.

Police made Buda clean off the water-based art paint, but discovered that Buda had also painted on a tree in front of 234 Bridge Street.

Buda pleaded guilty to a citation for criminal mischief in district court.

Attempted Theft at the Kindergarten Center

A woman reported that she saw a tall, thin white male wearing a white sleeveless T-shirt in her car holding her iPod on Aug. 9 shortly before 12:39 p.m. in the parking lot of the Kindergarten Center at 100 School Lane.

The woman yelled at the man, who then got into his vehicle and sped off, leaving the iPod in the seat of the victim’s car.

The vehicle was described as the same size as a mid-sized sedan, and multi-colored. It either has a camo pattern painted on it or possibly has wallpaper stuck to the body, according to police.

When leaving the scene, the driver also struck the victim’s vehicle, according to police, leaving a yellow and blue paint transfer on the front bumper.

Police were unable to immediately locate the vehicle.

Burglary on Church Street

A woman was in the shower between 1 p.m. and 1:35 p.m. on Aug. 9 when an unknown thief broke in through a side door and stole her Macintosh Powerbook laptop and her JVC hard disk camcorder.

The theft was reported on Aug. 9 at 1:55 p.m.

Pedestrian Struck on Nutt Road at Bridge Street

Police arrived at Nutt Road and Bridge Street on Aug. 11 at 10:33 a.m. to find a 21-year-old man who had been struck by a vehicle.

The man was being transported to Phoenixville Hospital with what police reported appeared to be minor injuries.

The driver said the light turned green and the man ran in front of her vehicle. All witnesses said the same thing. The driver was not charged.

Drug Arrests on Starr Street

An officer was patrolling in the 700 block of Starr Street when he came upon a vehicle occupied by four individuals on Aug. 15 at approximately 12:34 a.m.

The officer reported a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle and said the driver, Wade Rudzik, 18, admitted that everyone in the car was smoking marijuana. According to the police report, a small marijuana cigarette was also found in the car, though Rudzik allegedly denied that it was his.

Rudzik was charged with possession of marijuana, and two juveniles were cited for curfew violations. Another 18-year-old passenger was released from the scene without charges or citations.

More Than $1k in Quarters Stolen from Car Wash

Between Aug. 6 and Aug. 11, someone stole more than $1,000 in quarters from the car wash located at 656 Nutt Road.

The theft was reported on Aug. 11 at 4:33 p.m. Police were investigating.

Items Stolen from Delivery Truck

A man told police that a thief removed two boxes of snack food from his delivery truck, which was parked at the 7-Eleven at 200 Nutt Road on Aug. 14 at 1:47 a.m.

The thief was described as being a white male, 6-feet 1-inch tall with tattoos wearing a black tank top with red shorts. The value of the stolen snacks was estimated at $66.72.

Drug Charges on Bridge Street

Police charged Matthew Haverly, 21, with possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia and six counts of corruption of minors after he allegedly had burning marijuana in his room in the unit block of Bridge Street on Aug. 11 shortly before 8:47 p.m.

A charge of drug possession, paraphernalia possession and the six counts of corruption of minors were all held for county court following the preliminary hearing.

Hit and Run at Main and High Streets

On Aug. 12 at 7:55 a.m., a woman reported that someone struck her 2004 Volkswagen Jetta overnight, causing minor damage to the driver’s side door, front and wheel.

The woman reported that the vehicle was not drivable due to the damage. The car was parked near the intersection of Main and High streets.

Car Stolen on Anderson Avenue

A woman reported that her 1997 white Ford Escort was stolen from the unit block of Anderson Avenue sometime between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Aug. 9.

There was a suspect in the case.

Car Stolen on Morris Street

A woman reported that she woke up to find her 2010 Nissan Versa stolen on Aug. 14.

The car was parked in the 200 block of Morris Street. There was a suspect in the case.

Gas Reported Stolen at Dean and Washington

A man reported that between 4 p.m. and 7:52 p.m. on Aug. 9, someone stole gas from his Chrysler PT Cruiser, which was parked near the intersection of Dean Street and Washington Avenue.

The man told police that the thief took approximately seven gallons of gas.

Burglary on Bridge Street

A man reported that someone broke into his apartment between 8 a.m. and 11 a.m. on Aug. 9 and stole $150.

Cell Phone Stolen on Bridge Street

A man reported that while he was standing in the 200 block of Bridge Street, a black male, approximately 18, with black curly hair, black pants, white sneakers and a black shirt stole his black Samsung Cricket cell phone.

The victim ran after the thief, but was unable to catch him. The theft occurred before 10:30 p.m. on Aug. 9.

Theft on Emmett Street

A woman reported that someone stole a small silver radio/CD player with two mini speakers from a rear porch in the 200 block of Emmett Street sometime after 5 p.m. on Aug. 9.

The radio was valued at $40, and the theft was reported on Aug. 10 at 1:17 p.m.

Theft on Bridge Street            

A man told police that no one secured his room when he was arrested previously, and said someone broke in and took approximately $30 in cash and $12 in food from his room in the unit block of Bridge Street.

The theft was reported on Aug. 14 at 3:40 p.m.

Man Reports Money Stolen in 2009

A man told police that sometime after his mother’s death in 2009, money was removed from her house, located in the 100 block of Gay Street.

The man discovered the theft when he was cleaning out his mother’s home on Aug. 10. A diamond ring was also missing, according to the police report.

Teens Jumping off Railroad Bridge

Police found a large group of teens jumping from the railroad bridge at Black Rock Tunnel into the Schuylkill River on Aug. 10 at 2:13 p.m.

The teens were warned and told to move along.

Tire Deflated on Vanderslice Street

A woman reported on Aug. 13 at 10:07 a.m. that someone left the air out of her rear passenger side tire.

The criminal mischief occurred after 12:30 a.m. on Aug. 13.

Damage to SUV on High Street

A woman reported that her 2001 Ford Explorer was damaged during the morning of Aug. 15.

An officer noticed a red paint transfer on the vehicle. The damage was reported on Aug. 15 at 8:30 a.m.

Car Keyed at Independence Crossing

A tenant in the F building at Independence Crossing Apartments reportedly had her car keyed during the overnight hours of Aug. 9.

Car Keyed on Lexington Drive

On Aug. 9 at approximately 3 p.m., a woman discovered that her car was keyed on the driver’s side doors.

The same car had also been keyed on July 27, according to police.

Open Container on Harvest Lane

Janet Hogan, 44, of Phoenixville was allegedly drinking a large container of rum and coke by the pool on Harvest Lane on Aug. 12 at 4:11 p.m.

Hogan was cited for an open container violation.

Open Container at Prospect and Main

German Lainez-Garcia, 21, of Phoenixville, had an open bottle of Corona beer near the intersection of South Main and Prospect streets on Aug. 14 at 12:02 a.m., according to police.

He was cited for an open container violation.

Open Container on French Creek Bicycle Trail

Gary J. Sollenberger, 48, of Phoenixville, had an open 20-ounce can of Budweiser on the French Creek Bicycle Trail on Aug. 12 at 6:34 p.m, according to police.

He was cited for an open container violation.

Open Container on Prospect Street

Police cited Julian Franklin, 18, of Norristown, with an open container violation and disorderly conduct after an officer allegedly observed him with an open can of Four Loko in the public lot on Prospect Street on Aug. 14 at 9:48 p.m.
