Phoenixville Police Blotter: Multiple Hit and Run Reports

The following arrest information was supplied by the Phoenixville Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

The following incidents were reported between Oct. 1 and Oct. 10. 

Man Pleads Guilty to Several Offenses After Passing Out on Restricted Property

Police responded to a report of a subject lying next to a building in the 300 block of High Street on Oct. 4 at 8:40 a.m.

Upon arrival, a sergeant spoke with Gregory Schiele Jr., 40, who was reportedly lying in an area posted against trespass.

After investigating further, police discovered that Schiele had also allegedly kicked in an apartment door. He was cited for disorderly conduct, public drunkenness, criminal mischief and trespass. He pleaded guilty to all four offenses in district court.

Man Begging Seniors for Money on Church Street

A 62-year-old man was reportedly begging seniors for money near the Phoenixville Senior Center at 153 Church St.

Police responded on Oct. 5 at 11:30 a.m. and a woman reported to another woman that she turned over $20 to the man at Third Avenue and Main Street. The victim said she felt frightened and uncomfortable.

The complainant said she would warn the man to stay away from the center.

Off-Duty Officers Nab Man Allegedly Involved in Fight on Bridge Street

According to a police report, Donald E. Hill, 27, of Pottstown, was involved in a fight at the 212 Bridge St. and he fled upon police arrival.

Two off-duty officers caught and detained Hill on Prospect Street. The incident occurred on Oct. 8 at approximately 2:01 a.m.

Hill was arrested for disorderly conduct and released.

Large Fight on Bridge Street

An officer observed a large group fighting in the 200 block of Bridge Street on Oct. 9 at 2:02 a.m.

Two males were identified as Justin Gombino, 27, and Andrew Rook, 23. They were both taken to the ground and handcuffed, according to the police report.

At the same time, another group was fighting from the same altercation. That group headed up toward the intersection and other officers intercepted them.

The two who were arrested were cited for disorderly conduct.

Chain Saws Stolen from Truck

A man reported that a thief took a 14-inch chain saw an a 20-inch chain saw from the back of his work truck sometime between Sept. 7 and Oct. 3.

The victim was on vacation and returned home to find the chain saws missing. While the theft may have occurred on Althouse Street, the truck was driven to various locations during the man’s vacation so he was unsure of where exactly the chain saws were stolen.

Phillies Logo Painted at Washington and Lincoln

Police reported that’ someone painted a Phillies “P” at the intersection of Washington and Lincoln avenues sometime before Oct. 3 at 11:08 a.m.

The streets department was notified.

Tires Stolen on Ridge Avenue

A man told police on Oct. 9 at 6:49 a.m. that sometime between 12 a.m. and 6 a.m. on that date an unknown thief took the tires off of his 2009 Nissan 370z.

The incident occurred in the first block of Ridge Avenue. No value was given for the tires or the rims.

Marijuana Turned in on Walnut Street

On Oct. 5 at approximately 3:02 p.m., police responded to a report of a verbal altercation in the 200 block of Walnut Street.

Upon arrival police were given eight bags of marijuana and a small glass pipe. The person who turned over the drugs and pipe would not say whom they belonged to. The drugs were destroyed at the station.

Gas Stolen at Dean and Morgan Streets

A man called police on Oct. 6 at 7:14 p.m. to report that sometime after 9 p.m. on Oct. 5, someone removed and damaged the locking gas cap from his 2004 Chrysler PT Cruiser and then siphoned out close to a half tank of gas, approximately seven gallons.

The incident occurred near the intersection of Dean and East Morgan streets.

Hit and Run on Church Street

A hit-and-run driver reportedly damaged a woman’s 2002 Volkswagen Passat during the overnight hours on Oct. 7.

The car was sideswiped, according to police. The damage was on the driver’s side doors and the incident occurred in the 200 block of Church Street.

Window Smashed on Eland Downe

A woman told police that someone broke out the driver’s side window of her 2009 Subaru Outback with an unknown object between 7 p.m. on Oct. 9 and 10:30 a.m. on Oct. 10.

No items were missing from the vehicle. The incident occurred in the 4200 block of Eland Downe.

Thieves Haul Off With Bricks on Second Avenue

A woman reported that someone took eight bricks from her front yard in the 200 block of Second Avenue sometime during the morning on Oct. 9.

The woman said this is the third time bricks were stolen at this location.

Disturbance on Westridge Drive

A woman called her daughter to report that a man later identified as Joe D’Puia, 47, was arguing with her and grabbed her cane and pushed her because he thought she was going to hit him.

Police arrived to find D’Puia allegedly intoxicated and screaming. He was arrested for public drunkenness. The alleged incident occurred in the 800 block of Westridge Drive on Oct. 3 at approximately 10:53 p.m.

Boy Reportedly Injured as Minors Fight on Gay Street

Police responded on Oct. 10 at 3:23 p.m. to find a 13-year-old boy with minor bruising on the left side of his face following a fight with a 14-year-old boy.

The 14-year-old was gone from the location in the 1200 block of Gay Street when police arrived. An investigation was pending.

Man Skips Out on Bill at Al-Basha

A man told police that a subject left without paying a bill at Al-Basha Hookah Bar at 31 S. Main St. shortly before 12:07 a.m. on Oct. 2.

The man who reported the incident followed the thief to a bar in the 200 block of Bridge Street, but the thief was not there when police arrived. The man who reported the incident wasn’t sure of the amount of the bill.

Laptop Stolen on Main Street

A woman reported that a thief stole her Dell laptop from All Things Primitive at 25 S. Main St. sometime between 5 p.m. on Oct. 1 and 12 p.m. on Oct. 2.

Hit and Run on Fourth Avenue

A woman reported that her 2006 Hyundai Sonata was struck sometime during the overnight hours on Oct. 4.

The vehicle sustained damage to the entire length of the driver’s side, according to police.

Hit and Run on High Street

A GMC was traveling westbound on High Street when it struck a legally parked Dodge van in the 300 block.

The Dodge had light driver’s side damage. The crash was reported on Oct. 2 at 4:48 p.m.

Hit and Run on High Street

While an officer was responding to a different accident in the 300 block of High Street on Oct. 2 at 5:04 p.m., he reportedly observed a second accident.

The operator of the vehicle was stopped by other police units and he was identified as Mikelangello Martins Almeida, 21, who is a suspended non-driver without insurance.

Almeida pled guilty in district court to reckless driving, careless driving, driving with suspended operator privileges, driving without insurance and a summary charge for restrictions on alcoholic beverages.

Theft of Pills on First Avenue

A man reported to police that he discovered six Oxcarbazepine pills missing from his prescription bottle in the 200 block of First Avenue.

The drug is used to treat bipolar disorder. The theft was reported on Oct. 2 at 7:31 p.m.

Hit and Run at Washington and Lincoln

A man reported that sometime during the overnight hours on Oct. 3, someone hit his 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt.

The front bumper and passenger-side headlight reportedly were damaged.

Windshield Smashed on High Street

A woman reported that someone smashed the windshield of her 2000 Dodge Stratus sometime between 6 p.m. on Oct. 2 and 6 a.m. on Oct. 3.

Nothing was reportedly taken from the car.

Brick Tossed Through Window on Main Street

A man reported that someone threw a brick through his living room window sometime before 10:47 p.m. on Oct. 10.

Police responded to the 700 block of Main Street and saw a white stone on the man’s floor. 

Box Truck Hits McDonald’s

A man reported that white box-type truck struck the McDonald’s northwest overhang and then left the scene, heading east on Route 23 on Oct. 10 shortly before 4:18 p.m.

The McDonald’s is located at 651 Nutt Road. Police searched the area but were unable to locate the box truck.

Car Damaged on Ridge Avenue

A man reported that between 6 p.m. on Oct. 1 and 11:50 a.m. on Oct. 2, someone damaged the front end of his Mazda 3, which had been parked in the first block of Ridge Avenue.

Air Conditioner Pushed Through Window at Hookah Bar

On Oct. 7 at 12:11 a.m., someone called to report that two males pushed an air conditioner through the window of Al-Basha at 31 S. Main St.

One man was described as a white male wearing a dark hoodie and blue jeans and a black male wearing a dark hoodie and black jeans. The pair then allegedly fled down Main Street. Officers checked the area but couldn’t find the men.

Flag Stolen at Phoenixville Federal

A man told police that two males and a female stole the flag from in front of Phoenixville Federal Bank at 120 S. Main St. on Oct. 1 at 12:33 a.m.

The theft was reported on Oct. 7 at 9:58 a.m.

Man Gets Disorderly Conduct Charge for Loud Stereo at Bridge and Main

On Oct. 10 at 1:33 p.m., police reported observing a 1999 Subaru Legacy sedan with a loud, booming car stereo near the intersection of Bridge and Main streets.

Justin Wampler, 20, was cited for disorderly conduct.

Change of Address Packet Stolen on High Street

A woman was advised to file a police report regarding a stolen United States Postal Service change-of-address packet from her apartment living room in the 300 block of High Street.

The theft was discovered on Oct. 8 at 4 p.m., according to police.
