Phoenixville Police Blotter: Thieves Steal Colonial Theatre Cash Register

The following arrest information was supplied by the Phoenixville Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

The following incidents were reported between Sept. 1 and Sept. 10.

Thieves Haul Off with Colonial Theatre Cash Register

On Sept. 6 at 6 p.m., an employee at at 227 Bridge St. reported that two thieves stole the cash register and fled the theater.

The employee followed the thieves to the steps of the Foundry building at 2 N. Main St., where the employee saw the subjects dump the register. The employee picked up the register and took it back to the theater before calling police, who were unable to locate the thieves in the area.

Police were investigating.

Burglary on Walnut Street

On Sept. 7 at 8:29 a.m., a man reported that when he came home at 8:15 a.m., he found a male inside his home in the unit block of East Walnut Street.

The male was not authorized to be there. The man ran past the complainant and dropped three Fentanyl patches on the ground. The neighbor said she witnessed the man run south on Jackson Street, and she said she later saw him standing at Gay and Walnut streets.

Approximately 30 Oxycodone pills were taken from the home.

Burglary on First Avenue

Between 12 a.m. and 7 a.m. on Sept. 9, someone entered a home in the 300 block of First Avenue and stole an HP laptop and a Toshiba television.

The woman reporting the crime did not see or hear anything but she did give police the name of a person of interest. Police were investigating.

Burglary on Anderson Avenue

A man reported that he returned to a home he owns in the 500 block of Anderson Avenue to find a front window open.

Nothing was taken. The incident was reported on Sept. 10 at 12:41 p.m.

Property Damaged on Church Street

A man came to the station to report that a property he owns in the 300 block of Church Street sustained what he estimated to be $15,000 to $20,000 in damage.

The damage was reported on Sept. 10 at 1:50 p.m., and the man told police he knew who was responsible. A report stated that no charges were pending.

Peeping Tom on Dayton Street

Sometime around midnight on Sept. 7, a man observed an unknown person peering in a bedroom window in the unit block of Dayton Street.

There was no description of the person and the subject left abruptly on Dayton Street heading toward Emmett Street.

Disorderly Conduct at Main and Bridge Streets

A police officer allegedly observed James Lear, 31, in the middle of Main Street near Bridge Street cursing out loud and “flailing his arms around in a threatening manner,” according to a police report.

The alleged incident occurred on Sept. 3 at 1:04 a.m. Numerous pedestrians were in the area at the time, and Lear was taken into custody and cited for public drunkenness and disorderly conduct.

Man Scammed on Craig’s List

A man reported to police that he was the victim of an Internet scam on Sept. 9 at 3:45 p.m.

The incident arose from a piece of furniture being sold on the Craig’s List website. The Phoenixville man discovered the alleged scam when he contacted a bank to see about a check issued in the purchase. The Phoenixville man stated that he sent $1,775 to the man in Mississippi during the transaction, according to the police report.

Two Charged for Scrap Theft

Two white males later identified as Josh Borrilez, 18, of Phoenixville and a 15-year-old juvenile male were reportedly in the woods near Emmett and Taylor streets stealing scrap metal.

The alleged incident was reported on Sept. 9 at 5:30 p.m. Both were arrested and released pending an investigation into the amount of scrap. Two misdemeanor charges of conspiracy and a summary charge of trespassing were waived to county court for Borrilez.

Cocaine Possession at Wheatland and Breckenridge Streets

Lori Blair, 46, of Phoenixville, was arrested for cocaine possession on Sept. 1 at approximately 1:12 a.m.

Two charges were waived to court on the preliminary hearing date Sept. 29. The alleged incident occurred near the intersection of Wheatland and Breckenridge streets.

Fight on Nutt Road

Dewayne Williams, 55, pulled into the lot at at 218 Nutt Road and allegedly got out of his vehicle and starting fighting another 55-year-old man in the parking lot.

Williams left prior to the arrival of police, and there were no injuries reported. The alleged incident occurred on Sept. 7 shortly before 8:29 a.m.

Williams was cited for a summary harassment charge.

Hit and Run on Nutt Road at Bridge Street

A woman’s vehicle was struck from behind by a vehicle that fled the scene near the intersection of Nutt Road and Bridge Street on Sept. 6 shortly before 2:25 p.m.

The caller was able to get a license plate number when she followed the vehicle west on Route 23 into East Vincent Township. According to a police report, the vehicle was registered to a resident of Upper Providence Township and police were investigating.

DUI at Gay and Church Streets

Someone called to report a 1993 Mazda coupe swerving and speeding on Sept. 4 at 8:51 p.m.

Police made contact with the driver, Gonzalo Mendez, 30, who was taken into custody for driving under the influence.

Heroin at Phoenixville Hospital

A woman reported finding drugs in the purse of Kristina Davis, 26, in a room at , 140 Nutt Road, on Sept. 10 at 3:06 a.m.

The purse allegedly contained a plastic bag containing a zip-top bag with six small yellow zip-top bags with a powdery substance inside. The powdery substance was suspected to be heroin. There was also a spoon, plunger and a number of small blue wax-like bags in the large zip-top bags.

Davis has charges pending for drug possession and paraphernalia possession.

Drugs on Second Avenue at Lincoln Avenue

According to a police report, an officer smelled a strong odor of marijuana in the area of Lincoln and Second avenues on Sept. 9 at 10:36 p.m.

The officer allegedly observed William Lance, 26, turn the corner. According to police, Lance admitted to smoking marijuana and said he had just thrown it when he saw the officer. Police checked the area but couldn’t locate the marijuana.

Lance received a citation for disorderly conduct.

Registration Sticker Stolen on Kleyona Avenue

A woman reported that a thief cut off the corner of her license plate while it was parked at the at 211 Nutt Road sometime before 2:36 p.m. on Sept. 1.

The corner cut off had a valid registration sticker on it. There were no suspects.

Hit and Run on Nutt Road

A man reported that on Sept. 10 shortly before 6:24 p.m., a white 1996 Toyota truck struck a Nissan Altima and fled the scene in the 700 block of Nutt Road.

Police had the registration number for the striking vehicle and were investigating the hit and run.

Car Damaged on Parkview Drive

A man reported that sometime between 9 p.m. on Aug. 31 and 6:30 a.m. on Sept. 1, someone broke off the driver’s side mirror of his 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier and bent the antenna while the car was parked in the 300 block of Parkview Drive.

Car Damaged on Lexington Avenue

A woman reported that someone keyed the driver’s side of her vehicle between 11:30 p.m. on Sept. 2 and 10 a.m. on Sept. 3.

The 2010 Honda Accord was parked in the 300 block of Lexington Drive.

Ram Ripped Off on Phoenix Drive

A man reported that sometime during the overnight hours on Sept. 5, someone ripped off the Ram emblem on his 1993 Dodge.

There were no suspects. The incident occurred on South Phoenix Drive.

Theft on Starr Street

A man told police that sometime between 7:30 p.m. and 9:45 p.m. on Sept. 7, two 15-inch red and black Ford rims were stolen from the 500 block of Starr Street.

The rims were near the trash but were not with the trash.

Graffiti on the Masonic Hall Door Frame

At 9:24 p.m. on Sept. 8, a man reported that graffiti was found on a door frame at the Masonic Hall located at 203 Church St.

An unknown word was written on the wall, according to the police report.

Graffiti on Needle Street

An officer found four letters in black and silver spray paint in the 600 block of Needle Street on Sept. 8 at 9:05 p.m.

The graffiti was on a concrete traffic barrier and spelled out the word “BEDE.”

X-Ray Film Stolen from Hospital

Between 6 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 8, an unknown man drove up in a sport-utility vehicle and entered Phoenixville Hospital at 140 Nutt Road.

He picked up the used X-Ray film, and he posed as an employee of Accurate Recovery Systems. A similar incident occurred at Grandview Hospital in Sellersville. Police were investigating.

Door Frame Damaged on Main Street

A man reported that someone damaged his door frame sometime before 12:40 p.m. on Sept. 4.

The incident occurred in the unit block of Main Street.

Crawl Space Damaged on Nutt Road

A crawl space in one of the bays at the car wash located at 656 Nutt Road was damaged sometime before 2:38 p.m. on Sept. 6.

Property Damage, Trespass on Bridge Street

A man reported that sometime overnight on Sept. 2, someone entered a property in the 500 block of Bridge Street and damaged multiple glass window panes.

The officer was told that people come and party on the property on weekend nights. While investigating the property damage, the officer noticed a male jump the fence to the rear of the building. He spoke with a 35-year-old male who said he had been staying on the property. The man was advised that the property was private, and he was told to leave.

Bike Stolen on Second Avenue

A woman called police to report that her 9-year-old son called her to tell her his bicycle had been stolen in the 100 block of Second Avenue.

The bicycle was a gold/yellow Mongoose with skulls on it. An officer checked the area but could not locate the bike. The incident happened on Sept. 2 sometime before 2:24 p.m.

Kids Reportedly Throwing Rocks at Cars at Franklin and Vanderslice

A man called police to report that a group of juveniles, approximately 9 years of age, were throwing rocks at passing cars near the intersection of Vanderslice Street and Franklin Avenue on Sept. 2 at 7:19 p.m.

An officer checked the area but was unable to locate the juveniles.

Fighting at Bridge and Gay Streets

Police reportedly observed Joseph Flynn, 22, fighting and punching toward another man who appeared to be trying to calm him down on Sept. 3 at 1:31 a.m.

According to police, Flynn was also loud and using profane language. When the police officer got out of his car, Flynn fled and was subsequently taken into custody at Prospect and Gay streets, according to the police report.

He was cited for disorderly conduct and public drunkenness.

Tire Flattened on Franklin Avenue

A woman told police she left her car in the 500 block of Franklin Avenue and she found her front tire flat.

The woman’s mechanic told her someone had tampered with her valve stem. The incident was reported on Sept. 9 at 7:21 p.m.

Trespassing on the Steel Site

Four people were cited for trespassing on the steel property west of the high bridge on Sept. 5 at 3:12 p.m.

An officer spotted Jordan Mattes, 21, Alexandra Cangialosi, 18, Charles Knoble, 20, and Rebecca Balard, 18, allegedly trespassing on the site.

Juveniles Trespassing on Steel Site

Police responded to a report of juveniles trespassing on top of buildings on the steel property in the middle of town on Sept. 2 at approximately 1:10 p.m.

Police arrived to find 10 juveniles, and two of them had climbed a ladder on the smoke stack. The climbers were identified as two 15-year-old boys.

The subjects were warned and the parents of the climbers were contacted by police.

Public Urination on Bridge Street

An officer reported observing Sabrina Colon, 22, urinating in a walkway in the 200 block of Bridge Street on Sept. 4 at 2:32 a.m.

Colon was cited for disorderly conduct.

Public Drunkenness on Bridge Street

An officer reported that he observed Justin Monastero, 32, getting thrown out of at 212 Bridge St. on Sept. 10 at 1:31 a.m.

According to the police report, Monastero showed signs of intoxication and was stumbling and slurring speech. He was allegedly given a chance to have a ride home but failed accept it.

He was arrested and taken to the police station, where he was secured to the bench. He was cited for public drunkenness.

Public Drunkenness on Bridge Street

A woman reported that a male later identified as Peter Kolubinsky, 48, was lying in the road in the 200 block of Bridge Street on Sept. 5 at 3:50 p.m.

According to the police report, Kolubinsky was visibly intoxicated and he was taken to Phoenixville Hospital for treatment. While there, Kolubinsky allegedly became disruptive and violent. He was cited for public drunkenness.

Public Drunkenness on High Street

Officers reported seeing John Summers, 44, intoxicated and causing a scene in the lobby of an apartment building in the 300 block of High Street.

Police dumped his beer out and walked him to his room for the night shortly after 9:39 p.m. on Sept. 3. At 10:14 p.m., someone called back reporting that Summers was still causing a problem. Summers was taken into custody and cited for public drunkenness.

Public Drunkenness at Third Avenue and B Street

Christopher Brown, 60, was cited for public drunkenness and disorderly conduct after police say he was highly intoxicated and urinated near the intersection of Third Avenue and B Street on Sept. 10 at 7:40 p.m.

Public Drunkenness at Gay and Prospect Streets

Police took Daniel Hurlock Jr. into custody for public drunkenness at Gay and Prospect streets on Sept. 4 at 1:54 a.m.

Public Drunkenness on Ringold Street

According to a police report, James Bailey, 37, was unconscious and highly intoxicated on the curb in the 500 block of Ringold Street on Sept. 2 at 11 p.m.

When police arrived, Bailey reportedly vomited and asked to be taken to the hospital. He was transported to Phoenixville Hospital by ambulance and he was cited for public drunkenness.

Open Container at Bank and Bridge Streets

Police cited Anthony Valash, 32, for an open container violation after an officer allegedly observed him walking down Bridge Street with a red plastic cup containing beer on Sept. 3 at approximately 9:08 p.m.

Police cited Nathan Smithson, 33, of Pottstown, for an open container violation after he allegedly had an open can of Pabst Blue Ribbon beer in the unit block of Bridge Street on Sept. 2 at 7:44 p.m.

Open Container on Bridge Street

Robert Francis, 30, of Upper Providence Township, received a citation for an open container violation after police say he had an open bottle of Corona and a pint of beer in the municipal lot on Bridge Street on Sept. 2 at 8:41 p.m.

Open Container at Bridge and Main Streets

Police cited David Wallace, 50, of Newtown Square, after he allegedly had a cup of beer near the intersection of Bridge and Main streets on Sept. 2 at 8:55 p.m.

Mark Sanford, 42, was cited for allegedly having a beer in a clear plastic cup near the intersection of Main and Bridge streets on Sept. 2 at 9:02 p.m.

Two men were cited for open container violation at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sept. 2.

An officer noticed two males walking down the sidewalk near the intersection of Main and Bridge streets with beers in blue plastic cups. The men were identified as Leo Cornelius Jr., 47, and Paul Kelso, 46.

Open Container at Bridge and Main Streets

Police cited Phillip Banzet, 33, with an open container violation after he was allegedly walking on the sidewalk near Main and Bridge streets carrying a beer in a red plastic cup on Sept. 2 at 10:20 p.m.

Open Container on Prospect Street

Patrick Koch, 55, of Phoenixville, allegedly had a 24-ounce can of Hurricane Malt Liquor in the Prospect Street municipal lot on Sept. 9 at approximately 6:35 p.m.

He was cited for an open container violation.

Open Container at St. Mary’s and Airy Streets

While driving on Sept. 9 at approximately 11:57 p.m., an officer saw a man walking near the intersection of St. Mary’s and Airy streets with an open can of beer.

Joseph Simpson, 28, was cited for an open container violation.
