Phoenixville Police Seek Info on Burglar

Police are hoping the public can help them find a man who burglarized five borough businesses and possibly a sixth in East Pikeland Township over the last few weeks. 

The smash-and-grab burglar, shown in the surveillance video photos above, is described by police as a light-skinned black or Hispanic male with a short beard; approximately 5-feet, 8 inches tall; wearing a white T-shirt and hooded sweatshirt with stripes down both sleeves.

According to police, the man is responsible for four burglaries in the Acme shopping center at 785 Starr St. on Nov. 10 where the burglar broke into , Hog Island, and the . Later that same day, a wireless phone store in the first block of Bridge Street was also burglarized, with all the burglaries happening during the early morning hours.

On Nov. 16, a business in the 400 block of High Street was burglarized, according to a press release from Phoenixville Police. On Monday, East Pikeland Police were investigating a burglary at Bella Napoli Pizzeria on Township Line Road. According to East Pikeland Police, that burglary occurred between 10:30 p.m Sunday and 3 a.m. Monday. The burglar got away with the starting cash that was in the register. 

In each crime, the burglar threw a large rock through the glass doors of the businesses to gain entry. He was caught on camera in one case, and those photos are shown above.

According to , three of the businesses burglarized on Starr Street—Ethan Nails, Top Cleaners and the Hair Cuttery—were also burglarized on July 29. Shannon Jamal Edwards, 32, of Eagleville, was arrested for those incidents along with dozens of burglaries around the region. In those cases, the burglar pried open the doors to the businesses.
