Police: Alleged Shooter Had Drugs at Time of Arrest

Saleem Williams, 20, hasn't yet been arraigned on one felony and two misdemeanor drug charges.

The day police arrested Saleem Williams, 20, of Sharon Hill, at the corner of Bridge and Main streets for a warrant, Williams had multiple bags of marijuana on him, according to Phoenixville police.

Williams is currently in Chester County Prison awaiting a preliminary hearing on 50 charges, including criminal homicide and first-degree murder, for the shooting death of Selvin Lopez-Mauricio, 22, of Phoenixville. The homicide occurred on Sept. 14 shortly before 1 a.m. in the 100 block of Prospect Street in the borough.

According to a police report from Sept. 20, when officers were searching Williams at Bridge and Main streets, they found a large sandwich bag with several smaller, clear bags inside of it. The bags contained suspected marijuana and Williams had them in his left front pants pocket, according to the report.

Additionally, police allegedly found a small clear round container with a screw top containing suspected marijuana. Charges were filed in district court for possession of drugs with intent to deliver—a felony—along with two misdemeanor drug charges.

During the investigation of Lopez-Mauricio’s murder, Caitlin Schierenbeck, 19, on drug charges when they went to an apartment looking for Williams and allegedly found Schierenbeck in possession of marijuana.

Police brought Williams in on a warrant on Sept. 20 and later charged him with the murder of Lopez-Mauricio. According to a criminal complaint filed in district court, Williams admitted to police that he pulled the trigger, firing the single shot that killed Lopez-Mauricio. Williams also admitted to striking another male victim with an open fist, according to police.

He has yet to be arraigned on the three drug charges. Williams was arrested along with Stephen Reidler, 23, of Linfield. A third suspect, Monique Richardson, 18, of Phoenixville, remains on the loose and  is being offered for information leading to her arrest.
