A Phoenixville woman was under the influence of alcohol when she crashed her car on East Pothouse Road last week, police are reporting.
Kelly Boyce, 35, was charged with four counts of DUI and an additional charge of careless driving after the January 2 accident.
According to court documents, that Wednesday at 8:49 p.m., Phoenixville Police reported to the scene of a one-vehicle accident on the 100 block of E. Pothouse Road. The vehicle, a Jeep, had heavy front-end damage but Boyce was uninjured.
By the reckoning of the accident investigators, Boyce failed to negotiate a curve properly and drove off the roadway; across the opposite lane and into two trees, the second one head on.
Boyce was removed from the vehicle by a fire rescue team, but she refused medical treatment, telling medical personnel on the scene that she was “okay.”
When Phoenixville Police arrived, they observed that Boyce was slurring her speech and smelled like alcohol. She failed three field sobriety tests and was taken to Phoenixville Hospital to have her blood drawn.
Kelly Boyce has a preliminary hearing scheduled on February 7.
