Police Investigate Bodies Found in Nearby Home

The bodies of an elderly man and woman were found in their own home by Lower Providence police officers Friday afternoon after neighbors had told the Montgomery County Office of Aging and Adult Services that the couple had not been seen lately.

Police were dispatched to the home, which is on the unit block of North Trooper Rd., of the Trooper section of Lower Providence, at approximately 11:48 a.m., according to a media release from the Lower Providence Township Police Department.

The officers knocked and heard nothing. After they entered they saw what appeared to be the dead bodies of the man and woman. It appeared that the couple, who were in their eighties, had died some time ago.

Detectives from both the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office Detective Bureau as well as Lower Providence Police arrived at the scene, as well.

The Lower Providence Volunteer Fire came to check the carbon monoxide levels and they determined that there was none. Investigative personnel were then able to enter.

A preliminary investigation shows that there had been no apparent evidence of violence in the residence. The home’s heat system was working; it does not appear that the residents died due to cold-related issues.

The Montgomery County Coroner’s Office came on-scene and took custody of the bodies. Their autopsies are scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 25.

The couple’s identities are not being released at the time pending notification to their relatives.
