A Phoenixville man was arrested on Sunday night after police say he got drunk and assaulted his wife and daughter over an argument centering around the television remote.
Anthony Michael Kandy, 39, was charged with four counts of assault and four counts of harassment stemming from the November 25 incident.
According to court documents, Kandy’s daughter told Schuylkill Township Police that her father had been drinking all evening when he got in an argument with her mother over the television remote in their home on the 100 block of Dawson Street.
She said her father hit her mother sometime before 10 p.m., and when she tried to intervene he pushed her into the doorway and punched her in the lower lip. An officer on the scene observed that the woman had dried blood on her lip and both cheeks.
The mother corroborated her daughter’s testimony, and added that her husband had assaulted her last week as well, an incident she neglected to report. She showed police bruises on her chest, shoulder, and arm.
Kandy was arrested and taken to the Schuylkill Township Police Department. Police say he admitted to pushing his wife, but denied punching his daughter. He also alleged that his wife had assaulted him.
Kandy faces preliminary hearing on November 29.
