Police: Man Was Drunk When He Flipped Car on 29

According to court documents, he admitted to having five drinks before the crash.

A Pottstown man was drunk and without a driver’s license when he flipped his car on Route 29 earlier this month, state police are reporting.

Luis Anthony Maldonado Jr. was charged with two counts of DUI, driving with out a license, disregarding traffic lane, driving at a safe speed, and careless driving after the November 1 accident.

According to court documents, state police were dispatched to Route 29 north of Dickson Drive on November 1 at 2:48 a.m. for a report of a crash. When they arrived at the scene they saw a black Nissan Sentra overturned and lying on its driver side doors.

When police interviewed the driver, Maldonado, they noted he smelled like alcohol and had bloodshot, glassy eyes. He added that he did not have a driver’s license.

When asked to explain the accident, Maldonado told police that he had three beers and two shots at PJ Ryans and lost control of his vehicle on the way home, swerving onto an embankment and flipping over.

Maldonado then consented to and failed three field sobriety tests and a breathalyzer test. He was placed under arrest and taken to Chester County Hospital to have blood drawn for testing.

Maldonado faces preliminary hearing on December 13.

In that case the Police should file a complaint against P.J. Ryan's, and should that man have killed anyone, if it were me I would hire a lawyer and take that bar and everything in it and also sue any and of it's employee's who served him that night. 212 Bistro is the same way, they over serve. Police should always check ro see if the Owner, bartenders and servers are certiftied by the State under the ramp program. The way this is going a victim's family is going to sue and the LCB will shut it down!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't know; who's to say he wasn't drinking before going to PJR's? If he admitted to three beers and two shots, chances are he had a LOT more than that before he even got there.

Sharon, If that was indeed the case, then for sure Ryan's should not have served him !!! That make's them even more liable......DUH

The police should investigate further with respect to by whom and how much this person was served. It is only going to get harder and more deadly for everyone when the new turn pike ramps open up on 29!!
