When police interviewed the driver, Maldonado, they noted he smelled like alcohol and had bloodshot, glassy eyes. He added that he did not have a driver’s license.

When asked to explain the accident, Maldonado told police that he had three beers and two shots at PJ Ryans and lost control of his vehicle on the way home, swerving onto an embankment and flipping over.
