A Phoenixville man was arrested at his Virginia Avenue home on Saturday after police say he assaulted his wife after she attempted to intervene in an argument he was having with her mother.
Andrew Ryan Whitmore, 31, was charged with simple assault, harassment, and disorderly conduct stemming from the alleged October 20 incident. Whitmore was previously charged with simple assault by borough police in January of 2009.
According to court documents, Whitmore’s wife told Phoenixville Police that sometime before 8:12 p.m. that evening her husband became intoxicated and began to yell at her mother.
The wife grabbed Whitmore by the arm to pull him away from the woman, but he responded by punching her in the chest, arm, and mouth. Police noted the wife had a bloody lip.
Whitmore was arrested and arraigned that evening. He faces preliminary hearing on October 25.
