Police: Phoenixville Man Berated Mother-In-Law, Assaulted Wife

Police say the wife attempted to intervene in the argument and her husband attacked her.

A Phoenixville man was arrested at his Virginia Avenue home on Saturday after police say he assaulted his wife after she attempted to intervene in an argument he was having with her mother.

Andrew Ryan Whitmore, 31, was charged with simple assault, harassment, and disorderly conduct stemming from the alleged October 20 incident. Whitmore was previously charged with simple assault by borough police in January of 2009.

According to court documents, Whitmore’s wife told Phoenixville Police that sometime before 8:12 p.m. that evening her husband became intoxicated and began to yell at her mother.
