Police: Phoenixville Man Busted on DUI, Drug Charges

The man was pulled over after allegedly drifting into an oncoming lane last weekend.

A Phoenixville man was arrested for DUI and drug charges last weekend after a traffic stop yielded a glass pipe in his car, Schuylkill Township Police are reporting.

Scott Matthew Patrick, 26, faces charges of careless driving, disregarding his traffic lane, possession of drug paraphernalia, and five counts of DUI stemming from the September 30 incident.

According to court documents, Patrick was traveling westbound on the 1200 block of Valley Forge Road at 3:09 a.m. that morning when he, at least twice, swerved across the double yellow line and into the oncoming lane. Police pulled him over (a second vehicle was pulled over as well, but the driver was sent on his way) and noted he had bloodshot eyes and smelled like alcohol.

Patrick failed a field sobriety test and a Breathalyzer test and was placed into custody on suspicion of DUI. When police searched his Honda Accord, they found a glass pipe, commonly used for smoking marijuana, in his center console.

Patrick was taken to Phoenixville Hospital to have blood drawn for testing and released to his spouse. He faces preliminary hearing on November 8.
