Police: Phoenixville Woman Lied About Stolen Rental Car

The vehicle had been involved in an incident involving drug possession.

A Phoenixville woman was charged last week after police say she falsely reported her rental car stolen over the summer.

Carlisa Renne Hyden, 25, was charged with falsely incriminating another person and falsely reporting a theft of vehicle to police.

According to court documents, on July 14 Hyden told police that Garrison Flagg Jr.—a Phoenixville resident with a history of criminal charges—stole the Chevy Impala she was renting. Hyden was contacted after Flagg, while using the car, had an altercation with police involving drug possession. He fled the scene.

Based on Hyden’s account, police issued an additional arrest warrant for Flagg on charges of receiving stolen property.

Two weeks later though, Hyden recanted her account. She called police and told them that she “made up” the report, but when informed that she would face charges for the lie, she became upset, said she was calling her attorney, and hung up the phone.

Police say subsequent attempts to reach her were unsuccessful.

Hyden was charged on November 21 and faces preliminary hearing on December 27.
