Police: Phoenixville Woman Was Drunk When She Hit Guardrail

Angela Zimmerman, 36, was charged with two counts of DUI.

A Phoenixville woman was arrested for DUI late last month after she struck a guardrail on Valley Forge Road, Schuylkill Township Police are reporting.

Angela Zimmerman, 36, faces charges of careless driving, failure to report damage to vehicle, and two counts of DUI stemming from the September 27 incident.

According to court documents, Zimmerman struck a guardrail on the intersection of Pawling Road and Valley Forge Road at 1:30 a.m. that Thursday. A Schuylkill Township officer heard the collision and pulled her Pontiac G6 over just shy of North Whitehorse Road.

Zimmerman’s airbag had deployed, but she was uninjured. When the officer approached the vehicle, he noted that Zimmerman’s speech was slurred and her eyes were bloodshot. She also smelled, according to the affidavit, strongly of alcohol.

She admitted to drinking alcohol that night and failed three field sobriety tests.

Zimmerman was taken to Phoenixville Hospital to have blood drawn for testing. She faces preliminary hearing on November 8.
