Police: With License Suspended for DUI, Man Gets Another DUI

Garrison Flagg faces multiple charges.

A 44-year-old Phoenixville man was arrested for DUI on September 8 after an officer spotted him driving with a suspended license, are reporting.

According to court documents, Garrison Flagg was driving west on High Street at 2:59 a.m. when an officer with the Phoenixville Police Department who, according to the affidavit of probable cause, knew he was driving on a suspended license from a previous DUI, spotted him.

The officer pulled Flagg over in the parking lot of the Polish Club and noted that he appeared to be heavily intoxicated and smelled accordingly. When the defendant got out of his Ford Expedition he slumped against the vehicle and explained that he was recovering from hip surgery.

He refused to submit to field sobriety testing and was placed under arrest for DUI. Police then took Flagg to Phoenixville Hospital, where he again refused to submit to any testing.

He was later taken to the station where, according to police, he urinated on the wall of the cell block hallway, and again in the holding cell.

Flagg was charged with several counts of DUI, driving without insurance, and institutional vandalism. He faces preliminary hearing on October 11.

Can someone tell me the value of these DUI and domestic stories is? What is the civic value of this? Are we supposed to stay off the road now? Or is Patch just writing these pieces to humiliate the perps?

Not for nothing but these "perps" deserve to be humilated as they put us all in danger by driving drunk on public roads. Don't drive drunk and you don't have to worry about seeing your name in the paper or online. It's really that simple. I will agree that some of the crime coverage (not just here) is over the top. How many times do we see a kid caught with an ounce of weed turned into Tony Montana by the newspapers? Most readers have enough sense to take these stories for what they are worth,

I agree, they should include their photos for everyone to know who these people are that continue to burden our legal system and put people at risk.

Im not saying I disagree or agree - I just want to know what value Patch thinks these pieces bring to the community. SHould we stay off the roads knowing about Flagg?

Did you get a DUI in the past and were embarassed when you name ended up in the paper or on some website? Otherwise what is your beef with the patch doing periodic police reports?

This guy needs to be humiliated! He obviously does not learn his lessons well. 2nd time caught DUI and thinks he can get away with it? How does he keep insurance on the car with these DUI's? He needs to be put in a cell and loose the key until he can sober up and get off the alcohol. This is how inocent human beings are being killed.

Keep up the good work you do Patch! I really do think these stories should have faces to go with them! I am sure a mug shot was taken. Obtain it so these people you write about may think twice before doing another crime.

No - I never had a DUI. I was trained as a journalist thought and I think Patch should be honest about its intentions. Some communities put the names and faces of dead-beat parents out on billboards as a humiliation tactic - and that's fine by me. is that what Patch is doing? then Fine - call it out as such. However, the detail of the man urinating in the cell is not "news" - it's a inflammatory detail to make the story more sensational.

"You Wish", the patch is apparently looking for a new editor once Tom leaves. Maybe you can apply...

@PhxFInest - not really. Local news should have civic value. What is the value of this story?
