Police: Woman Hospitalized After Boyfriend Assaulted Her Over Cash

The man also allegedly punched another woman in the face.

An argument over money turned ugly on Sunday when a Phoenixville man beat his girlfriend so badly she had difficulty walking, Phoenixville Police are reporting.

Robson Periera Lima Santos, 20, was charged with aggravated assault, two counts of simple assault, two counts of harassment, disorderly conduct, and recklessly endangering another person stemming from the September 16 incident.

According to court documents, sometime before 1:08 p.m. that afternoon Santos allegedly was having an argument with his girlfriend in their 400 block of Nutt Road apartment, when he got angry and physically lashed out. Santos, according to his girlfriend’s testimony to police, threw her down on the coach, hit her, and began to choke her.

When a second woman tried to pull Santos off of her, he turned around and struck her in the right eye, causing bruising and swelling.

Santos girlfriend then tried to flee, but he tackled her, causing a hip injury. The other woman in the apartment was able to escape to a neighbor’s house and call 911.

When police arrived at the scene, Santos’ girlfriend had red marks on her neck and chest and was having difficulty walking. She was taken to Phoenixville Hospital to have her injuries treated.

Santos was arrested and arraigned that day and confined to Chester County Prison when he was unable to post bail. He faces preliminary hearing on September 20.
