Road Rage Incident Lands Phoenixville Man in Jail

Police say 27-year-old Eric Pyne pointed a gun at a man who passed him on Ridge Pike in Lower Providence.

Lower Providence Police arrested a Phoenixville man on Friday for pointing a gun at another driver who passed him on Ridge Pike in the Collegeville section of Lower Providence.

According to the Lower Providence Police Department, officers were dispatched for an incident at Ridge Pike and Level Road on Friday, March 29. On the scene, they spoke with the victim who reported that he was travelling on Ridge Pike when he passed a red Ford Explorer. The victim said the driver of the Explorer gave him the middle finger as he passed and when the two came to stop at a red light at Level Road, the man pointed a semi-automatic handgun at him.

Police were able to locate the Explorer and the driver on Egypt Road. He was identified as 27-year-old Eric Pyne, of Phoenixville, and taken into custody. He faces charges including aggravated assault, recklessly endangering another person, terroristic threats, drug offenses and numerous firearms violations.

Pyne was transported to Montgomery County Correctional Facility where he was arraigned and released on bail.

You never know who you are dealing with on the roads now a days....a lot of nuts ot there with guns just looking for trouble. I hope this guy spends at least 3 years in jail for this but my guess is he'll do 8-12 month in county lock up. Only good news is after he is convicted, he will be unable to own a handgun ever again.

The gun is not the issue. The criminal is. If not a gun, a box cutter, a bat, a bomb or a chemical weapon. And they all fit in a car.
Laura Schwartz April 02, 2013 at 10:11 PM
Tell me, then, how is it that so many convicted criminals do own guns these days?
patchsux April 02, 2013 at 10:30 PM
why did the story not say if a gun was recovered when the car and driver where located? did the victim tell the truth was there really a gun if so where is it who owns it and are they licensed another poorly reported story
Frances Stein April 03, 2013 at 11:20 AM
People have to undergo more tests and follow more regulations to own and drive a car than to own a lethal weapon. Background checks. Psychological testing. Gun control. NOW.
Obama Remorse April 03, 2013 at 02:15 PM
You really want the government doing psychological testing on it's citizens? What's next, the Thought Police?
TheNate April 03, 2013 at 03:48 PM
Yeah ... I'd be real intimidated if someone pointed a box cutter at me through a car window. Or a bat. It's called "range."
George Hughes April 03, 2013 at 04:21 PM

so you hope someone spends 3 years in jail because someone called the cops and said they pointed a gun at them? If you own a gun, I could call the cops and say the same thing and if you have that gun with you, licensed or not, you're still getting locked up. Shouldn't believe everything you read or any idiot that calls the cops.
Craig Marks April 05, 2013 at 03:22 PM
Agreed
Craig Marks April 05, 2013 at 03:38 PM
Frances, why stop there as have you seen the movie Minority Report ... we can just convict them for thinking about.
harry finster April 06, 2013 at 01:52 AM
you could at least take phoenixville to town anonymous then you would be aware of your problem
Joe Smith April 07, 2013 at 10:53 AM
most people don't buy guns the legal way
Craig Marks April 07, 2013 at 06:39 PM
How does a government ‘test for gun ownership'? And no need to call someone a name when you do not agree with you. I personally do not and have not owned a gun but believe every legal citizen (in this country legally and does not have a criminal background) has a right to own guns. Why? Because the 2nd Amendment states ‘A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed’. No if, and, or buts … shall not be infringed … ever.

All of a suuden, whenever an article is written regarding a gun, wackos decide to turn it into a political debate. everyone has their right to feel the way they do about guns. This article was about AN incident that occurred so, back to the subject at hand, why would someone driving along one day, decide to call the cops and report that someone pointed a gun at him if it didn't happen? If he wasn't found with a gun, they wouldn't have been able to charge him. Use common sense before turning this into your own agenda on gun rights
