Sketch, More Details From Thursday's Attempted Abduction

Chester County Detectives put together a sketch of a man police say grabbed a CAT Pickering student.

Schuylkill Township Police are still looking for a man who reportedly grabbed a CAT Pickering student in an attempted abduction Thursday morning. 

The high-school age juvenile was walking in the 300 block of West Pothouse Road near the intersection of Audrey Lane when a man in a pickup truck approached her, according to a news release issued by police. 

"The person got out of the truck and grabbed the female and attempted to get her in the vehicle," the news release states. "She was able to get away from him and ran off, going to the school where the police department was notified."

The suspect is described as follows: 

  • white male in his mid-40s with a brown beard flecked with gray, medium build, standing 5 feet, 9 inches tall wearing a plaid, gray-striped shirt and brown work boots 

Police also released a description of the truck:

  • small charcoal gray pickup truck with a white plate with red letters—possibly from Ohio—on the front of the truck and an unknown registration on the rear of the truck. A rear window of the truck had a black and green bumper sticker with a fish with a hook on its mouth.

According to the news release, police also hope to find the driver of a white Nissan that was reportedly behind the truck. The driver blew the horn at the suspect, according to police, and police would like to speak to him or her.

Anyone who saw the girl, whose age was not released by police, walking along Pothouse Road or witnessed anything related to this incident should call Schuylkill Township Police at 610-933-5820 or the Chester County dispatch center at 610-935-2440. 

The incident prompted the superintendents of both Phoenixville Area School District and Spring-Ford School District to send notices to parents letting them know of the attempted abduction. 

"This incident reminds all of us of the need to be vigilant at all times," Dr. Alan Fegley of Phoenixville Area School District wrote.
