State Police Conducting Impaired Driving Checks Over Holiday Weekend

State Police charged 411 people with DUI during July Fourth 2013.

Pennsylvania State Police will be conducting impaired driving checks over the holiday weekend, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said.

The "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" campaign will run through July 6.

During the July Fourth holiday in 2013, PennDOT said, State Police investigated 67 alcohol-related crashes, including four fatalities. Additionally, they charged 411 people with driving under the influence.

PennDOT urged all drivers to be careful on the roads during the holiday weekend. From July 4 to 8, 2013, State Police investigated 845 crashes, which included 312 injures and nine fatalities. Those statistics do not include investigations by local police.

Drive and celebrate safely.
