State Police: Man Assaulted Woman in His Charlestown Home

The victim told police that Robert McLean, unprovoked, attacked her.

A Charlestown Township man was arrested late last month after police say he assaulted a female friend after inviting her to his Howell Road home.

Robert Keith McLean faces charges of simple assault and harassment stemming from the November 24 incident.

According to court documents, that evening a state trooper was dispatched to the 4000 block of Howell Road for a disturbance. Once on the scene, the officer interviewed McLean, who explained that he pushed the victim, but did not elaborate further.

The woman did. She told the officer that McLean had invited her to the residence, then, when she arrived, immediately yelled at her and pushed her. He then, according to the affidavit, “threw her around and threw her to the ground multiple times.” The woman tried to flee, but McLean shoved her into a retaining wall before striking her several more times.

The officer noted that the victim had multiple injuries, including bruising and swelling to her legs and arms.
