Would-be Thief Busted in Eland Downe, Police Say

Phoenixville police made an arrest after a caller alerted them to a prowler.

A 21-year-old Phoenixville man was arrested after police say he tried several times to steal from a vehicle parked in Eland Downe.

On April 6 at 12:05 a.m., Phoenixville Police were dispatched to the 4800 block of Eland Downe after a caller reported that a man wearing a dark puffy jacket over a grey hooded sweatshirt was seen running from an area where a car alarm was going off. According to court documents, the man was seen in close proximity to the car two additional times.

Police say they located a man matching the description the caller provided. Several witnesses were then brought to the scene, and they positively identified the man, according to court documents.

Police say that when they searched the defendant prior to his arrest, they found him in possession of a marijuana pipe.

The defendant was charged with loitering and prowling at night, theft from a motor vehicle, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He faces preliminary hearing on May 9.
