Donald Schnovel, the 80-year-old Phoenixville man who was arrested in February of 2012 on charges of sexually assaulting and taking pornographic photos of a then-14-year-old girl, was sentenced to 10 to 20 years in prison on Thursday, The Mercury is reporting.

Schnovel pleaded guilty to criminal charges on Dec. 5.

As reported by Phoenixville Patch, on Nov. 21, 2011, the then-14-year-old girl told a corporal with the Phoenixville Police Department that Schnovel, a family friend, had performed numerous sexual acts with her. Each took place in his red Ford Mustang, on one occasion in the parking lot of Phoenixville Hospital, she told police.

He later admitted to police that he had kissed the girl, taken pictures of her, touched her genitals, and offered her $5 to perform oral sex on him.

Schnovel faced his victim during the sentencing. According to the paper, the girl began cutting herself after the octogenarian began sexual contact with her.

“I am not going to hurt myself anymore,” Schnovel’s 16-year-old victim told the judge. “I am not a victim, I am a survivor.”

Schnovel looked on from his wheelchair.

“You are not going to heaven,” the victim added. “You are going to hell.”

Hopefully he won't be put in protective custody in prison but instead into the general population. They will take care of him there and he can live in hell on earth before he arrives at the eternal hell.

Sad so very very sad! He destroyed 2 families and 2 lives, his own and that poor child. I pray she recovers (mentally) from this and it does not control her life. I pray she has the strength and support to move forward with her life.

Poor Child....some abuse is physical and others are mentally. Neither should be deemed ACCEPTABLE behavior. Parents listen to your child stories they make more sense than manipulative adults.
