Borough May Hire Collection Agency to Recoup Outstanding Bills

Nearly $1 million is owed to the borough in delinquent water, sewer and trash bills.

There are so many outstanding water, trash and sewer bills in Phoenixville that the borough is considering hiring an outside collections agency in an attempt to recoup some of the money.

At the end of 2013, nearly $1 million was owed to the borough, The Mercury reported. At the March 11 Borough Council meeting, Borough Manager E. Jean Krack said that attempting to collect that is more work than the borough can take on alone.

A recommendation to hire a collection agency may come by June, The Mercury said.
