Council President Kirkner Explains Recent Absences

The borough council president was not present at the body's August or September meetings.

Phoenixville Borough Council president Richard Kirkner explained his absence from the council’s August and September meetings on Tuesday night.

Kirkner, who was replaced by vice-president Michael Speck during the two meetings, said he had a family commitment that precluded him from presiding over the August meeting and a business engagement that kept him from September’s.

“This is not a full time job for us,” he explained at the October 9 meeting.

“We all have other commitments we have to take care of to pay our borough water bills and taxes,” he joked.

I should mind my own business, Tony, and you don't have to? Please keep writing, because you're funny! And thanks for proving my point, Sir, thank-you!

The anger in these comments is bumming me out. Maybe one day we will all learn to like each other again and come back together as a community.
