Lane Restrictions Scheduled on Black Rock Road Bridge

The construction will continue through the end of this week, according to PennDOT.

Editor's Note: The following press release is from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) today announced that lane restrictions are scheduled on the Route 113 (Black Rock Road) Bridge over the Schuylkill River in Phoenixville and Upper Providence Township, on Monday through Friday (Feb. 13 to Feb. 17) from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for erosion protection. Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the area.

The work is part of PennDOT’s $2 million contract to repair state-owned bridges as needed in the Philadelphia region.

The concrete arch bridge was built in 1916. The structure is 554 feet long and 32 feet wide. It carries 9,500 vehicles a day.

J.D. Eckman, Inc. of Atglen, PA, is the general contractor on the $2,077,371 project that is financed with 100 percent state funds.

PennDOT reminds motorists they can log on to 511pa.com or call 511 from any phone to check traffic conditions on major highways before heading out.
