Letter: UProv Village Preservation Plan Would Affect Oaks, Mont Clare, Port Providence

Find out how to get involved with the Village Preservation Plan.

Editor's Note: The following letter to the editor was submitted by an Oaks resident. If you'd like to write a letter to the editor, email Lynn.Jusinski@patch.com.

There's something very important going on for residents of Oaks, Port Providence, Mont Clare and the Upper Providence portion of Royersford.

The township's planner has developed a first draft of a Village Preservation Plan. That plan is now on the township's website, and the planner told those present at the Planning Commission meeting Wednesday, Feb. 8 that he wants the public to read the plan and send in their comments by March 21. Any Upper Providence Township residents can comment, even if they don't live in one of these villages.

However, I think a lot of people in Upper Providence aren't even aware that this is going on. If adopted, the plan would mean big changes (in zoning, for example), so people really need to know that this is happening, read the plan and put in their two cents. The township said that comments are welcome by email, so people don't even have to go to a public meeting to get involved.
