The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) will
begin preliminary construction on a $16.8 million project to improve the U.S
Route 422 and the Trooper Road Interchange in October.
Two additional ramps will be built at the interchange—allowing driver to access 422 westbound from Trooper Road and vice versa in the eastbound lane— and infrastructure enhancements will be made as part of the U.S. 422 Schuylkill River Crossing Complex designed to improve travel along the corridor. Construction on the interchange is expected to finish in fall 2015.
The off-ramp to be built from eastbound Route 422 to 363 and the on-ramp to be built to westbound Route 422 will “allow drivers to make moves in all directions when traveling between the state highways, and relieve congestion,” according to 422improvements.com.
