Phoenixville Hosting Gun Buyback Program

The borough will be trading gift cards for guns on November 10.

Mayor Leo Scoda and the Phoenixville Police Department are holding a gun buyback day next weekend, The Mercury is reporting.

By getting extraneous weapons out of homes, Scoda told the paper he hopes the event will make the borough safer.

“People say, ‘I’ve got [my guns] hidden,’” Scoda said. “Yeah, right. The kids find the Christmas presents you have hidden, too.”
