Schuylkill Expwy Work at 23 Delayed

Bad weather pushes planned construction work back to the weekend instead of Thursday night.

Work on I-76/The Schuylkill Expressway that had been planned for Thursday night at Route 23 has been pushed back to Friday and Saturday night.

The following information comes from PennDOT:

Tonight's scheduled lane closure on eastbound I-76 in Montgomery County (see news release below) has been postponed due to inclement weather.

Weather permitting, I-76's eastbound right lane will be closed the next two nights just east of the PA 23 Interchange in Lower Merion Township while crews remove large rock from the adjacent hillside. The work hours are from:

  • 10 p.m. Friday (Oct. 11) to 9 a.m. Saturday (Oct. 12
  • 10 p.m. Saturday (Oct. 12) to 9 a.m. Sunday (Oct. 13)
  • Intermittent five-minute traffic stoppages also will occur on eastbound I-76 approaching the work area during the overnight operations.

This night work is part of PennDOT's $2.3 million project to enhance safety along eastbound I-76 (Schuylkill Expressway).
