Schuylkill Twp Hearing on New Development Wed. Night

Hearing is scheduled for 6:30 in the township building.

The Schuylkill Township Board of Supervisors will hold a special public hearing tonight to consider an ordinance that would pave the way for a new housing development off Route 29.

Township Manager Mary Bird tells Patch the development would include home styles from carriage houses to "McMansions."  The plans call for just under 100 homes in the proposed development.

Read the entire ordinance that covers the proposal here on the township's website.

There is a group circulating an online petition to oppose the proposed development. That petition can be found at  http://www.change.org/petitions/schuylkill-township-board-of-supervisors-vote-against-the-revised-pl...

The public hearing begins at 6:30 p.m. at the Schuylkill Township Building at 111 Valley Park Road.

Bird tells Patch that the supervisors could vote on the ordinance tonight at the conclusion of the public hearing or the supervisors could opt to vote at a later date.
