VIPs Cut Borough Hall Ribbon (to Shreds)

The ceremonial ribbon marking the opening of the new Phoenixville Borough saw a who's who of Phoenixville pack the new Borough Council chambers Friday night.

Two state representatives, all three Chester County Commissioners, two former mayors, a judge and township officials celebrated during grand opening festivities.

A cadre of VIP guests who were invited by each current council member for their service to the community did the honors for the ribbon cutting. Each was armed with a pair of scissors to cut the purple ribbon in about 10 places, leaving souvenir shreds of ribbon afterwards.

It was a wonderful ceremony. I was honored to have been invited.

Names of the VIPs would be nice. Lazy writing.

I don't recognize all of the VIPs but nice to see Paul "Lefty" Shoemaker, Don Coppedge, and Richard "Gump" Devaney were chosen.
