Volunteers Needed for Arbor Day Tree Planting

Information about a tree planting event in celebration of Arbor Day

The Borough will be planting 40 trees on the morning of Saturday, April 26th in celebration of Arbor Day. The trees were purchased through a grant from the Pennsylvania Horticulture Society in conjuction with their TreeVitalize program and Plant One Million campaign. Trees will be planted along streets in the Borough, in Reservoir Park, and in Reeves Park.

The volunteer group will meet at Reeves Park at 9 am where representatives from the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources and the Borough will read an Arbor Day Proclamation. The Arbor Day Foundation will also be awarding Phoenixville with a Tree City USA Growth Award. This will be followed by a demonstration planting after which the group will split up and plant the other 39 trees.

This is a great way for residents and families to celebrate Arbor Day and Earth Day and give back to the community. If you are interested in volunteering please contact the Phoenixville Tree Advisory Commission at phxville.tac@gmail.com.

Trees provide many benefits to Borough residents, and the TAC is optimistic about future planting projects. Phoenixville residents who think managing and maintaining the urban forest in the Borough is important should contact their council person and let them know they would like to have additional public trees planted in their wards.
