Phoenixville Historical Walking Tour

The year's Town Tours & Village Walks program, put together by Chester County Parks and Recreation, honors those who lived and died during the Civil War, and also explores the county’s iron and steel heritage.

The Phoenixville tour begins at the Schuylkill River Heritage Center and continues through Phoenixville’s Historic District along Main Street. Participants will see one of the few original 1855 model cannons developed by John Griffen at Reeves Park, along with two additional cannon barrels on concrete display bases. At Phoenixville’s Historical Society visitors will view a special Civil War exhibit.

The tour is free and open to all. Light refreshments will be provided. In the case of severe weather, the tour will be canceled by 5:00 p.m. the day of the tour. Sponsored by the Schuylkill River Heritage Center and the Historical Society of the Phoenixville Area.
