Karlyn Small Named Junior Rep. to Board of School Directors
The PAHS junior will be joined by senior Annie Rubino and alternate representative Elisa Khan.
Karlyn Small was named junior class representative to the Phoenixville Area School District Board of School Directors at the body’s Thursday night meeting.
High school principal Dr. Craig Parkinson said that Small was chosen after a “gruelling process.”
The school received six applications for the post this year, compared to three last year, and after a thorough vetting, each candidate advanced to the interview stage, from which Small emerged as the choice.

“We’re excited to have him,” said Parkinson.
Small, in a brief speech after his introduction, promised he would give equal hearing to student and administration ideas and endeavor to find areas where the interests of both groups overlap.

“I care a lot about their ideas and I care a lot about your ideas,” the PAHS junior told the board.
Annie Rubino will continue to serve as student representative for the 2012-13 school year, this time as senior rep, while Elisa Khan will act as an alternate representative to the board.
