PASD and Management Firm Reach $1.6 Mil Settlement Over 'Toxic' Land
The dispute stemmed from a 2005 purchase the district made.
The long running dispute between the Phoenixville Area School District and C. Raymond Davis & Sons has been settled for $1.6 million, the school board reported at a recent meeting according to the Daily Local News.
The case had been ongoing since 2008, but stemmed from a 2005 purchase of a piece of property in Kimberton the district made from the construction management firm. The PASD planned to develop on the property, but the notion was aborted when the area was found to be contaminated with toxic substances.

The school initially sued the firm to clean the site, but it was eventually decided Davis will pay the district back, in installments, a total of $1.6 million dollars. Davis will also reclaim ownership of the property.
