In making these realignments, Fegley stressed the number of administrative positions within the district is not changing.

“The restructuring will serve to strengthen both existing and new programs by providing strong educational leadership in all areas," Fegley said.

The new assignments are as follows:

  • Dr. Troy Czukoski, formerly the Phoenixville Area Middle School prinicpal, is the new Director of Virtual Learning and Student Assessment. This central office position is intended to grow the number of students in our virtual academy over the next 18 months.

“Our research and experience show that PASD can provide competitively high quality virtual learning opportunities while maintaining cost efficiency,” said Fegley. “Having someone with Troy’s experience and expertise is a huge asset to these efforts.”

  • Dr. Frank Garritano, who served as principal at Schuylkill Elementary, will be the new principal at the Phoenixville Area Middle School. Fegley applauded Garritano’s work, saying “Frank has done a wonderful job at Schuylkill Elementary, and his prior experience at the secondary level allows him to bring the educational leadership necessary to help the students cross the bridge academically, socially and emotionally from elementary to high school.”
  • David Flamer will be returning to Schuylkill Elementary as interim principal until June 2012. He was previously at Schuylkill as interim Assistant Principal for part of the 2010-2011 school year. A search for a permanent replacement will begin immediately, and Fegley pledged to “work with the Schuylkill community to hire an outstanding replacement for Dr. Garritano.”
  • Joe Antonio, Director of Continuous Improvement, will focus his energies on the Department of Pupil Services for the next year. “Antonio’s strong leadership skills and expertise in process analysis and improvement will be a tremendous asset to this department,” said Fegley. He will observe, evaluate, lead, and work to improve the existing programs within the Office of Pupil Services.

Fegley closed his letter with the following statement: "Our task in the Phoenixville Area School District is to become the best school district, one that meets the learning needs of all children. With the assignment of these educational leaders to their new roles, the resources of the district are being purposefully aligned to promote excellence in existing and new programs.  I am confident that you join me in wishing everyone success."
