Fantastic Phantoms Recognized at School Board Meeting

PAHS students were honored for their work on the student newspaper and in the classroom.

Phoenixville Area High School principal Craig Parkinson singled a few Phantoms out for praise during a recent school board meeting, The Mercury is reporting.

  • Alex Spears, Alex Monteiro and James Jackson, were recognized for their work on the Purple Press, the school’s student newspaper. The publication recently won the Pennsylvania School Press Association’s Gold Award for journalistic excellence.
  • Megan Krause (profiled by Phoenixville Patch in October) was honored for receiving the Harvard Book Award.
  • Matthew Lehning got mention for earning a $60,000 scholarship to the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
  • Juniors Hunter Lang, Tyler Timmons, Jeffrey Potts and Nicholas Lolli were recognized for receiving commending status in the National Merit Scholarship program, as were semi-finalists, Eileen Butler and Aaron Krame.

Dr. Parkinson said he was proud of the students and school board president Paul Slaninka emphasized the important role parents play in the success of Phoenixville Area High School students, in and out of the classroom.
