The Science National Honor Society was organized 12 year ago to encourage participation in and recognition of scientific and intellectual thought; advance student knowledge of classical and modern science; aid the civic community with its comprehension of science; and encourage students to participate in community service. In order to qualify for membership in the Society each student had to: receive credit for at least one AP science course, enroll in at least a single second year AP science course during or before senior year, and maintain a B+ average in all science courses. In their oath the new members pledged to represent the academic goals of the Society, participate in community service, and “encourage the pursuit of scientific knowledge that benefits all mankind.”
