Phoenixville School Board May Launch Czukoski Investigation

In the aftermath of a child porn charge against a former principal, the board wants to know if the district could have done anything differently.

Phoenixville Area School District may launch an investigation into what, if anything, it could have done differently regarding the child pornography charge that has been levied against the former principal of its middle school.

Phoenixville Area School District board member Dan Cushing made a motion at Thursday’s workshop meeting to create a special counsel to investigate whether the district missed any telltale signs of misconduct from Dr. Troy Czukoski, according to The Mercury. Though Cushing withdrew his motion after an executive session, he said he would advance an altered version of it next week. President Josh Gould added that the board would “spend some time crafting a motion”

Though the district has categorically denied that it knew anything about the charge against Czukoski until media reports surfaced on Tuesday, there has been speculation that PASD had suspicions. After seven years as principal, Czukoski was moved into a post in district office in February of 2012, before leaving in the summer to take over as principal at Springton Lake Middle School in Media.

According to U.S. Attorney Zane David Memeger, Czukoski possessed more than 150 but less than 300 images of children engaging in sexually explicit conduct.

The U.S. Attorney charges that:

"Czukoski knowingly possessed books, magazines, periodicals, films, video tapes and other matter, namely two flash drives, CDs and DVDs, which contained more than 150 but less than 300 visual depictions that had been produced using materials which had been shipped and transported in interstate and foreign commerce. The production of these visual depictions involved the use of minors engaging in sexually explicit conduct and the visual depictions were of minors engaging in sexually explicit conduct."

The case was investigated by the United States Postal Inspection Service and is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Michelle Rotella.

The School Board had "suspicions" about this guy while he was employed there but did nothing- Now he's gone and they're going to investigate him with a "special counsel." Its alittle late now to be bringing in "special counsuls" (lawyers). Let the Feds investigate him instead of wasting money on whatever you hope to accomplish with this stuff.

It's more like trying to cover your ass better by looking in the mirror. You want to figure out what evidence there is before someone else does. Just suspecting that Czukoski was a creep isn't good enough. The other argument is that they should've done this sooner. As for the feds, it's unclear if another investigation led to Czukoski or if one of his recent purchases (say from Thailand) set off a tripwire, but his attorney stated that his collection of illicit materials of boys was "within the last four years".

they should cut his balls off, and anyone who "suspected" anything was wrong also
Muffins March 18, 2013 at 02:36 PM
Agreed. He is no longer in the employ of the PASD, so please, please, do not use our tax dollars and kids' educational funds to pursue this. The Feds have taken over the investigation. Let it go.

" the district has categorically denied that it knew anything about the charge against Czukoski" OK, that's it! The end! I believe you! Don't spend any more of my damn tax money on this!!!

Isn't this like closing the barn door after you let the horse out? Let his current employer and the judicial system deal with this creep. He will get his "justice" in prison

@Muffins- the *least* PASD can do is spend some bucks to expose whatever Administration overlooked - resulting in the trash of PASD being passed off to another School District. YOU may not care to hear answers, but a HELL OF A LOT of parents at Springton Lake Middle School deserve answers. Granted, our Superintendent Wigo is a douchebag, but I think we ( Rose Tree Media) were duped by that scuzzy weasel, Fegley.
this one March 19, 2013 at 01:15 AM
Tell that to the hundreds of parents with children at Springton Lake Middle School. Fegley passed the trash onto Rose Tree - I think SOMEBODY ought to foot the bill to expose Fegley's abuse of 'The System' and how these loopholes can be closed up. Think of it as investing in the safety of your -and everyone else's children....
Joe Smith March 19, 2013 at 10:05 AM
The douchbags involved in this should be exposed. Someone in the government school administration sure knew something or the guy wouldn't have been transferred to another job, then quit to move on. Especially someone who was doing suck a great job as a principal at the government middle school.
Joe Smith March 19, 2013 at 10:08 AM
One good thing though, I am sure he will enjoy prison life and the shower room there. Someone will make him his wife for sure!!!!!!! I am sure he will enjoy the back door action. In addition, maybe the higher ups at that government school system can enjoy his company also. Someone else always knows. This is a small town and a small school district.

Dr. Do-nothing was protected by psychopathic school board members. Once the jail doors lock, Dr. Do-nothing will get a first hand taste of what he was preparing innocent children for........JAIL. Just to make him comfortable, send him an educational analogy for not providing quality education. Comma always comes back to haunt you, when you knowingly abuse your authority. The fact that you are completely clueless about boundaries should have been a RED FLAG to any district that protects children.
Nacer2175 March 20, 2013 at 03:07 AM
Do not waste our tax dollars on " investigating" someone who is no longer a danger. Spend money on making sure the districts interview process is thorough and we have policies in place in our school that will prevent our children from becoming victims of sexual assault or molestation. These are the items that matter most. Once someone like him is in the door there's not much you can do unless they are caught red handed or aren't doing the job they are asked to perform. The law does a better job of protecting criminals than honest people. No one is going to walk around showing signs of being a pedophile, especially when they work in a school. You can't make accusations without proof. Once he was hired if someone found him suspicious, they couldn't fire him or do anything about it without JUST cause. He could have sued the district for slander. Anyone who has been in a position were they hired employees would know that after doing several in person interviews, credit , background, and credit checks you still have a possibility of getting undesirables, not knowing that that's how they'd turn out to be.
Joe Smith March 20, 2013 at 10:13 AM
they didn't fire him, they moved him to another position where he wasn't around children..........hence, the administration/school board are a bunch of douchbags for not really giving him the TOSS OUT THE BACK DOOR which is what he probably liked anyway.................now the big question, HOW MANY MORE ARE THERE WORKING THERE? I AM SURE HE ISN'T THE ONLY ONE. Parents shouldn't be sending their kids to that crappy school district until they know for sure.
SS March 20, 2013 at 03:21 PM
Joe would you please just shut up. Your comments are crude, vulgar and they mean absolutely nothing. You do nothing but fling crap around. It seems likes it's all just to make yourself feel better. SHUT UP!

Joe Smith March 24, 2013 at 10:48 AM
