Phoenixville Students Displaying Art in April

April showers bring May flowers. And April artwork, Barnstone hopes, will bring a crowd.

Phoenixville kids will get a chance to show off their finest artwork next weekend.

The first weekend in April, Barnstone Art for Kids, a Phoenixville-based and privately financed non-profit that encourages local kids to interact with art, is hosting a weekend of events centered around the artwork of the students of Phoenixville Area School District.

It's a full slate of events. ., the organization will kick off the weekend with an artist reception for high school artists and their friends and family. Then on ., the group will invite middle and elementary school students and their families to enjoy the artwork on display.

Barnstone will also have interactive art activities available for children. Community members are encouraged to come and support these young artists at both events.

The weekend will conclude with an Art Kit-a-Thon fundraiser event to help defray the cost of Barnstone's program supplies. Participating high school students have divided into six teams to help put together 50 art kits that will be donated to the Big Brothers Big Sisters for use in their mentoring program. Each kit includes six interactive art activities with guided intructions for the kids and their mentors.

The weekend's events will be held at Barnstone's 388 West Pothouse Road gallery.
