Phoenixville Teen with Cerebral Palsy Makes Track History
Dillon McCants has cerebral palsy and had not walked since childhood. Last week he completed a race and won his varsity letter in track.
A Phoenixville teen who has not walked since childhood won his varsity letter in track last week.
Dillon McCants, 16, has cerebral palsy. He never dreamed that he would letter in track, but last week at Phoenixville Area High School he did just that.
When Dillon moved to Phoenxville two years ago, he met track coach Dustin Poole, who told him that nothing was impossible, 6ABC said.
Poole and his team worked with Dillon, and last week he was able to walk (with a little help) and finish a 30-foot track race. The 10th-grader was awarded a varsity letter for his efforts.
"The moment when it happened and he walked across that finish line, I was in tears -- the greatest moment in my coaching career ever," Coach Poole told 6ABC.

"They are the best people I've ever met -- the people at Phoenixville High School," Dillon told 6ABC. "And it's one of the best schools I've ever been, too."
