Renaissance Students Wear Crazy Hats to Fight Cancer

The RA fundraiser benefited the Get Well Gabby Foundation.

The kids at Renaissance Academy will, apparently, fight cancer with anything and everything they've got.

On March 1, the Key Club at the charter organized a school-wide fundraiser to aid research to cure childhood cancer. Students in grades kindergarten through 12th grade who donated a dollar were, as a mark of their generosity, allowed to wear their craziest hat to school. The fun event raised over $300.

The money will be sent to Get Well Gabby Foundation; a fund established in the memory of a young Phoenixville girl who lost a fight to cancer in 2011.

As the Vogel family used to live in Phoenixville, some of the Key Club members actually knew the family.  Allison Campisi, Renaissance Academy teacher and advisor of the Key Club said,”The Key Club students were really excited to be supporting a worthy cause that is not only important on a global scale, but also dear to the heart of someone from our home town.”
