Taxes Are Going Up in the Phoenixville Area School District

District's announcement says there's a little good news behind the increase.

If you live in the Phoenixville Area School District your taxes are going up for the next school year, but the district hopes you'll see the bright side.

While the median home value in the district will see an average increase that amounts to $53.  The district says that amounts to a 1.4 percent increase in school tax to help pay for the $78,721,839 budget .

The bright side? "According to the District’s records, this is the lowest percentage increase in 15 years." the district announced in a press release.

The Phoenixville Board of School Directors approved the 2013-2014 budget during a rare public meeting on Sunday, the last day of the 2012-2013 school budge year.

District Superintendent Dr. Alan Fegley said “the budget process was a good one.  This School Board and Administration worked very hard to achieve a balance between the needs of the school district without placing an undue burden on the taxpayers.”
