Another Great Way to Lose the Fat

4 week Bike interval workout, taking it outside

It is that time again, to dust off the bike and get back out on the roads. If you are looking to make the most of a fat loss program, adding intervals to your bike rides can be the key to getting that fat to burn away.

Although it may be fun to take a leisurely ride to the park or around your neighborhood, it may not help in burning off the fat.  As mentioned in my October  article , “fat loss occurs with the help of excess post exercise oxygen consumption (EPOC), or what some refer to as the after burn, response for higher intensity, intermittent exercise. “

With EPOC, in mind, below you will find a 4 week, 3 day a week bike interval workout, that will take you from beginner to better.  Each workout is only 30 minutes from warm up to cool down.  So it should not take you long to get through each workout.

The more experienced riders can also take this workout and add more resistance to the intervals.   Again don’t forget that getting the true effect of EPOC is not about long duration, it is about higher intensity.

Be sure to remember the rules of the road, wear your helmet, and get your bike tuned up if it has been sitting in storage through the winter months.  Enjoy your workout.  Stay tuned for more fat burning workouts.
