Double Dose of Phantoms Football This Week

The traditional Thanksgiving game moves to Thanksgiving Eve and the big game against Pottsgrove is slated for Saturday.

Phantoms football fans will have a double helping of football to go along with the turkey and stuffing this week.

Phoenixville Area School District announced that the Phantoms will face off against nearby rival Spring-Ford on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. at Washington Field instead of on Thanksgiving Day as originally planned.

In a close game on Friday night, the team to score a coveted spot in the PIAA District One AAA Championship game. That matchup against Pottsgrove will be played at 4 p.m. on Saturday at Plymouth-Whitemarsh High School, 201 E. Germantown Pike, Plymouth Meeting.

Phoenixville Athletic Director Tony Palladino said the decision to move the Thanksgiving game was made by him and the football staff in conjunction with Spring-Ford.

"In order to have as much prep time for that game the Thanksgiving game was moved to the night before Thanksgiving," Palladino said via e-mail Monday afternoon.
