Phoenixville AAU Gives Back to the Community

PSG Allstars, a recently formed AAU basketball team for Phoenixville boys, will give back to the community by spending time today at The Golden Living Center, 833 Main Street, Phoenixville on Saturday, March 17 at 1:30 pm.
PSG Allstars is a non-profit, volunteer basketball club for 8th grade boys from ages 12-14.

The team competes against other AAU and non-sanctioned AAU clubs in this Mid-Atlantic Region.  PSG’s mission is to guide the youth of our community to succeed and be strong adults through positive values and morals, good grades, and making knowledgeable choices through positive experiences.

This is the first year for PSG, and we are launching this endeavor with the focus not only on boy's basketball, but also to bring positive attention and good will to the entire community. Our objective is to teach the athletes good sportsmanship, strong work ethics, maintenance of acceptable scholastic grades, teamwork and positive attitudes.

Tai Crutchfield, co-founder and coach of the PSG Allstars, is semi-retired from the European Basketball League and has recently put roots down in Phoenixville.  "There are not too many opportunities for this type of program in Chester County," says Crutchfield.  "We have gotten a group of 15 boys together and we hope, through this program, to not only to establish competitive AAU boy's basketball team, but also establish good community relationships and we aspire to project positive leadership within the community by presenting a respectable image."

“Our organization is looking to build a long-term program;" Crutchfield said, "and that is why we are reaching out to our neighbors and friends for their generous support and commitment to help make this a success; not only for PSG, but for the surrounding communities and businesses. Through combined efforts and commitment we have started this club to positively benefit and help make a valuable difference for our local youth.  We want to how it is not just about basketball, but about molding kids into young men and good citizens.”

"I can't thank Lori Bailey enough for all her help with administration, working with the kids and for being a co-founder of PSG," said Crutchfield.

PSG's ambition is to not only help youth succeed on the basketball court and reach their athletic potential, but also to facilitate positive interest back into the Phoenixville community.  PSG has formed relationships with local businesses and organizations such as STS Auto, the Phoenixville Area School District, and Wells Fargo Bank, as well as volunteer organizations PYMC and PAPA, who all are collaborating efforts to help PSG Allstars succeed.
