Sly Fox Can Jam Festival

Americana Music Showcased at Sly Fox Can Jam Festival

A new tradition will be introduced to Pottstown, Pennsylvania when the inaugural Can Jam Festival takes over the Sly Fox Brewing Company on Saturday, September 22, 2012.

The FREE event, which will be held on the brewery grounds at 331 Circle of Progress Drive in the Pottstown Airport Industrial Park, will run from 11AM until 9PM and feature an all-star lineup of regional musical acts, the complete lineup of award-winning Sly Fox beers, food from the Sly Fox on-premises Tastin' Room and BBQ from Philly Pigs an award-winning competition BBQ team which will do special presentations between music acts.

A highlight of the day will be the KanJam Tournament for which teams must register in advance. The winning team will be awarded its combined weight in Sly Fox beer. The KanJam game has been described as being similar to horseshoes played with a flying disc. Two-man teams throw a 50-foot distance attempting to hit or enter scoring containers which serve as goals. Registration begins at 10:30AM and the first matches go off at 11. Teams will compete in three-game matches overseen by official judges until a champion is crowned.

Musical acts will play from Noon until 9PM and include John Train, Manatawny Creek Ramblers, Mason Porter, Phil Minissale, Reverend T.J. McGlinchey and the Vinegar Creek Constituency.

Can Jam Live Music Schedule:
12:00 Phil Minissale
1:30 Manatawny Creek Ramblers
3:00 Reverend T.J. McGlinchey
4:30 Vinegar Creek Constituency
6:00 John Train
7:30 Mason Porter

The Can Jam festival is named to celebrate Sly Fox's role as the first craft brewery in the Eastern U.S. to can its beers; that choice in 2006 made them one of the earliest adapters of what has since become the hottest packaging trend in the industry. A special Dortmunder-style lager, Can Jam Lager, has been brewed for the event and the second annual Cantacular Person of the Year will be revealed and presented with a trophy.

Sly Fox plans to host the Can Jam Festival annually and hopes to turn it into a "destination event" similar to its extremely popular Bock Fest and Goat Race at the Sly Fox Brewhouse & Eatery in Phoenixville on the first Sunday of every May, one of the most popular yearly celebrations of craft beer in the Delaware Valley.
